While many foreign workers in Hong Kong want to visit different attractions in different parts of the country during their holidays, many, however, find it tiring to travel, especially since the week has been long for them. Another reason many don't like traveling is because of the expense. While others spend extravagantly on food and fare when traveling, others would prefer to just sit down in the corner, lay their mats, bring their food, and gather with their friends.
Those who are following my blogs, probably have seen me sharing some photographs of foreign workers, mostly Indonesians, and Filipinos, usually staying under flyovers, overpasses, footbridges, and even along streets. This is a typical view in Hong Kong, especially on weekends.
Unlike me, who likes traveling on weekends, except when there's unstable weather and on lazy days, these workers will be satisfied to spend their one day holiday on the street. They would usually bring their own food or order takeout from nearby restaurants. Some will spend the day sleeping in the street along with others since some employers do not allow workers to rest in their respective houses on holidays.
For as long as they will be able to rest and call their loved ones abroad, their situation and place don't really matter to them. A one-day holiday isn't really enough for some to recuperate. So instead of going out to distant places, they would stay in nearby parks and places like this just to rest until nighttime before going back to their respective workplaces.
Life abroad isn't as easy as many thought it is. But those workers would endure difficulties just for the sake of their loved ones.

This right here is what many don’t get, as the desire to leave ones home land seems to be a good deal (to greener pastures). Even after it is discovered that it is worst off- the shame to return home without the greens promised is what keeps others still rooted in an uncomfortable spot.
Not really a shame.. It is understandable since their salaries are being sent to their families monthly and nothing left to save for them or their savings accounts... They work until they change the status of their family or achieve their goals..
The unfavorable circumstances in their own countries: low wages; inflation; high standards in working companies; and poor conditions, are just some of the reasons why they still prefer to work abroad.
Aw, I find it sad Madam! Truly, working abroad especially if DH was so hard..lucky are those who have good employers!
I wonder if this happens in other countries too.. At least, the government here are considerate to allow the workers to freely rest anywhere.. !LADY

Made me remember the scenes from Kathryn's movie, Hello, Love Goodbye. That movie really made me tear up. Working abroad especially as a DH is really hard. Super proud of all our OFW friends. They really are one of the modern heroes 💛

i remember my second time in HK, i've seen foreign workers especially women nagtatambay nga sa ganitong area. also, the movie scene of Kathryn Bernardo, ganito nga. naawa nga ako.
The price of every necessary thing is very high and the expenses are increasing and coping with this situation is getting difficult with time. Maybe they are trying to save some money which may help them in the future rather than using their money on making tours or adventures.
Oh, you brought domestic workers to the Monomad. But they sleep there? Under a bridge? How sad to live like that.
