These shells were found on the Edinburgh shoreline.

The first step is to add some colour. I went with a wave like pattern on some shells and rainbow colours on the others.

Following the natural contours of the shell I add blues and whites to look like waves on the beach.

For this one I tried adding some sunshine.

Adding little pieces of sea glass helps adorn them.

This one is a psychedelic rainbow stingray

These little pieces of sea washed glass look like emeralds.

To blend the colours I left each piece out in the rain. The rainwater reacted with the super glue used to hold the shells together creating something that looks like sea foam.

I think this rain wash blending technique worked particular well on these rainbow shells.

These waves and beach themed shells go together well as a set.

This is the best example of how well it worked to blend these colours to imitate waves .I added little specs of super glue to add a little sea foam.

Hi Everyone

This is a collection of sea shells I found on the Edinburgh Shoreline at the weekend.

I added some colour to them using inktense pencils. Inktense is an acrylic ink in a pencil that can be blended like water colour paints ,however when the ink dries it cant be re-blended.

This allows me to mix colours as if I was using watercolour paints but have the vibrant intense colours of acrylic ink.

I figured this medium would work well for creating the illusion of waves on the sea shells and would work well to blend rainbow like colours.

This was my first time using the Inktense pencils , I am pretty happy with how the medium works ,Im pretty sure I will keep playing around with it and see what I can come up with.
