Photo taken with mum and dad before I drove myself to the airport.

So I spent 4 days in Kuching, Sarawak, where I grew up in. Really short trip back but necessary. It was already day 6 of Chinese New Year, so it was time for me to return to my boys at home.

I tried to eat as much local food as I could though my stomach has a very limited capacity. I had my beef noodle which is different from what we have in West Malaysia. Had my Teh C Peng Special where C is actually meaning contains milk, Teh is tea and peng is ice. Hence we can directly translate that as Ice Milk Tea. So refreshingly nice!

Next, I went to see my sister at her house before leaving. Her house never fail to have Kuching food as her in-laws know how much she misses some of this local food so I had the privilege to eat some more Kuching Laksa which is noodles in a type of spiced broth and coconut milk. Lovely taste of the broth. There was also kueh chap where most places with Hokkien people sell this. It is flat short rice pieces cooked in soup cooked with pork innards. It has very very rich flavour.

Surprisingly I found many of my childhood snacks which only appeared during the Chinese New Year time like the *red dried squid coated in sugar, I remember how much my dad loves it and always buys when we were young. So this snack definitely brings back reminiscence of old childhood memories.

My sister's mum-in-law served me this canned drink which is rose milk. Apparently my brother-in-law's relative started this new brand and I think it is really good. Could have brought back some cans if I wasn't in a rush.

I also managed to eat my nostalgic Sunny Hill ice-cream in pandan flavour as well as trying out a special mini pork Jerky in cute lion dance packaging that my brother bought.

Taking photos for memories

Before I left, I took some more photos withh my nephew and sister because I really don't know when I will meet them again. The nephew was eating his kolo mee which is dry noodle happily while he cooperated to take photos with his eldest aunt - me. He smiled so happily with us!

Finally it was time for me to drive myself to the airport and to return the car I rented. I hugged my parents and blessed them, leaving my blessing behind with them. I feel sad to leave just 2 of them alone at home again and I need to be on a separate piece of land from them. However I wish to be back more often to see them.
