From one incentive trip to another? Why not? 😁
We've sealed my recent Bohol incentive trip under the folder "and they lived happily ever after" but that doesn't mean we're done roaming around the Philippines. If there's one thing I won't get enough of that'd be traveling around my beloved Philippines. I'm back today to bring you just that. This time we're roaming in an unconventional and often unappreciated way. What am I talking about? Read some more to find out.
What comes into your mind when you visit a new city or town? Perhaps find a ride to the nearest tourist spot, right? That's the easiest way to move around but on this particular trip to Camiguin with my colleagues for our 2019 incentive trip, I decided to spend our first few hours on the magical island of Camiguin on foot. Yep, on foot, and I don't mean walking, I mean running.
Who on earth would want to run on an incentive trip, right? The traditional notion is that delegates should relax for the entire duration of the trip. But my notion of relaxation is exercising. On my numerous work trips to Manila, Gensan, Davao, Surigao, and Iloilo, I made it a habit to always run either before work or after work. And it's amazing how running gave me an opportunity to get to know these key cities in the Philippines more. My favorite city when it comes to friendly roads is uncontestably Iloilo City. If you haven't visited Iloilo, you should at least once.
It was a windy afternoon in Camiguin, after settling down in our hotel and playing billiards with my workmates, I took off and hit the road. If you've been to Camiguin there's this famous pictorial spot called Camiguin View Deck next to Tongatok Cliff Resort. It was my only point of destination that afternoon. Running in the streets of Camiguin brings such joy for the following reasons: (1) knowing there were only a few vehicles on the island, (2) the roads are paved and (3) the weather was perfectly fine for a quick jog. I reached my destination in no time and spent a couple of minutes there before heading back to the hotel. The wind was so strong and the waves were scarily huge; you can spot them even from afar.
In your next trip, if you have spare time, I hope you can give running around town a try. 😊
