“I stopped believing a long time ago that things happen for a reason. I feel that when someone leaves, when you feel out of place somewhere, when you really try and it doesn’t work out—well, it’s just not meant to be. And whether something better comes along after that or not, I think it depends on each of us, on what we do to make new things happen—you know, like that nice saying: to have butterflies, you first have to tend the garden so they’ll come.
