Finally Working a Bit: Painting "Altar Sets"

in GEMSlast year

With just four days to go till our next (and last of the year) art show, I am finally starting to hit my stride a bit.

Last night and much of today, I have been working on our "Altar Sets," which tends to be a very popular item around the holidays... and we were sold out down to just having one set on hand, after the last show we went to.

Why "Altar Sets?"

These are part of the more "spiritual" aspect of Alchemy stones, and consist of four "matched" stones — in terms of size and shape — painted with a fairly similar pattern, but in four different colors.

The four stones each represent one of the "elements:" Earth, Water, Fire and Air.

These were originally inspired by feedback from my wife, who works with these concepts as part of her spiritual counseling practice.

Mostly, we choose fairly small stones for these sets... they were ultimately designed to be a way for people to take a bit of their "sacred space" with them, when traveling.

Depending on an individual's spiritual practice, it's typically not viable to have actual fire, water, earth and air in their hotel room... so these work as a "representation."

So far, I have managed to get five new sets painted up, and now they just have to cure for a few days... and then get a finish coat, in time for the show, this weekend.

Thanks for stopping by and reading; Do leave me a comment if you feel so inspired — interaction and engagement are always welcome!
