A Birthday Down on Animal Farm

in GEMS3 years ago

It was my friend’s 66th birthday yesterday. She became an official “pensioner”. I hate the term as it conjures up a lot of negative images. I’m a few years younger but we certainly don’t act our age. Who wants to do that?

Anyway, I wasn’t sure what to buy her. When you get older you tend to have most things, so I decided to buy tickets to visit a local animal farm park. It’s a place where you can go and meet all kinds of animals and help feed them. There's a lot of activities for children as well. My friend loves alpacas and they have a few living at the farm. The animals are all well cared for and the farm has been going for years.

I bought two concessionary tickets on the door. Who says getting old hasn’t got any benefits? A free lunch as well! I can never say no to food. Good job I love walking so I can walk the calories off.

I thought the longhorn was a 'he' but apparently 'she' is in calf. She was very inquisitive and fascinated by my camera.

Meerkat Manor, they were so funny. Apparently, the alpha female is the boss. When she dies, her daughters will have a fight to see who will replace her as boss. Apparently, it's more handbags at dawn, rather than a proper fight.

This little piggy managed to get out of its field but was quickly rounded up. His piggy partner squealed on him/her.

It was an interesting two hour visit. The weather was overcast and drizzling of rain at times but still fun nonetheless.

I would so love to snuggle to that calf :D So hairy!

I could have bought all of them home. 😀
