Welcome Hivers to this new post, today I come to share with you my reflections of Covid. This initiative begins with the purpose of supporting @jauregui98, who is a colleague from here in the hive, who is going through a bad time with this disease.
I remember clearly when the news of Covid 19 started to come out, I remember that we laughed at the university: "It is a global pandemic, and Venezuela does not qualify for the world cup" we said, the memes were not lacking. Of course, we already had an economic and political crisis (which still continues), the only thing we were missing was the Covid.
That same week, classes were suspended, I was thinking of graduating last year, since I only had one semester left, the quarantine arrived on March 13th of last year. My dad's first birthday, then mine in April, my two younger brothers and my mom's, we spent them in quarantine.

We take care of ourselves in my family, we continue to do so, because we have contact with elderly people, my grandmother and some neighbors, who are alone, we visit them here in the building and bring them food. During the last year one of those neighbors died, she lived up to her name, she was a very sweet lady.
We don't know what happened to her, maybe her age played against her, her blood pressure dropped during the morning and by noon she had passed away. I thank God that I knew her, but I am even more thankful that she did not suffer and went peacefully. The year passed and we thought everything would be better, but the new vines arrived.
This same month I received another piece of news, another lady I knew passed away from Covid. I had not seen her since last year, since the quarantine was decreed. I didn't even know she had gotten sick. Nobody said anything, until she was no longer there. I think that is the worst thing, not knowing if when everything returns to "normal" you will see them all.

Venezuela is not like in other countries, where you can get medicine fast or you can be seen in minutes in an emergency. Here in Venezuela getting sick is a luxury, since before the pandemic, so with economic crisis looking for what to eat, we are in quarantine. Risking going out to work or shopping, because there is no other way. But if you are going out, please take care of yourself.
I am not telling you not to go out, because the situation makes us obstinate to be locked up (I know, it also happens to me and I almost never left my house before the pandemic) and we have to find a way to eat, but if you go out, take care of yourself and take care of your loved ones. Use a mask, wash your hands, take a bath, wash your clothes if you have contact with a lot of people. Everyone wants to see you well.
I really hope that Covid will pass, but it is not going to pass if we do not collaborate. Those who are sick, I wish you a speedy recovery and don't doubt that we are here to help you if you need it, even if it's just a few words. I'm afraid I can't do more than that now. See you in my next post and take care.
