LITMUS TEST: "Not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character" - Martin Luther King, Jr.

in Proof of Brain3 years ago (edited)

Generally when people hear the speech of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. where he famously spoke of judging people by the content of their character rather than the color of their skin people agree with what he stated. Then in many cases they seem to forget it or choose to ignore it. In reality, some of the most racist people in the world right now and pushing the most for "systemic racism" are those that are constantly referencing race, claiming to be fighting racism, demanding diversity, etc. Do they realize this? I suspect most of them do not. Those benefitting from the division being created likely realize it and that is why they actively seem to keep throwing more fuel onto the fire. The fire is burning quite well and a lot of what in history we might call "useful idiots", or "cannon fodder" will even pile more fuel on the fire. Going with the flow, following the herd, and wanting to fit in while feeling like they are doing something virtuous.

I was curious today what might happen if I were to take Dr. King's quote and use it as kind of a test what might I be able to stream of consciousness write about. I haven't completely worked out where what I am about to write is going to go. Let the journey begin...

DIVERSITY

Is making sure there are sufficient quantities and mixes of people based upon skin color sticking with what his quote implies? I say no. It fails. It is fixating on immutable characteristic of skin and quantity of how frequently skin does or does not vary in color to indicate whether it is a good thing or bad thing. This completely fails the test. If judging people by the color of their skin is considered racism then if you are looking for an example of "systemic racism" you need look no further than governments and organizations that push this kind of diversity. In reality if a system seeks to artificially push diversity then it is going to impose tests and those test are going to impose a systemic bias of one type or another.

Let me try to whip out some example in a totally fictional made up nonsense setting and see how diversity as applied by the system works out:

  • 5 Purple criminals.
  • 5 Orange dock workers.
  • 5 Green farmers.

We need 10 workers for a job. Following the "system" of imposed diversity we must take 3 from each of those colors and then one of them will get an extra person. This immediately means 3 of them were criminals and definitely not chosen for the content of their character. They do keep it "diverse" based around skin color.

Now let's make this a little more fair:

  • 2 Purple Criminals
  • 2 Purple Social Workers
  • 1 Purple Gambler
  • 4 Orange dock workers
  • 1 Orange Gambler
  • 2 Green Farmers
  • 1 Green Gambler
  • 2 Green Farmers with megalomania

If we focus on just color again the choices and results will be even more interesting in terms of character not being what people focus on.

Yet there could be worse situations and these are closer to what actually happens in the United States theses days:

What if you have a situation where you need to hire 10 workers and something like this is going on.

  • 7 Purple applicants that are familiar with the position and have the skills...
  • 7 Orange applicants that are familiar with the position and have the skills...
  • 1 Green applicant that has no familiarity and may not even have the aptitude for the particular skills needed by the position...

The modern system would demand the green applicant be included even though they lack the skills. Yet it will likely be warped further. Let's say the popular narrative is that "Orange" workers have traditionally had an advantage over the others. If that is the case then they might demand that 7 Purple, and 1 Green are taken and the remaining 2 positions can reluctantly be filled by the Orange. That is "diversity" by the standard being pushed these days. It certainly has absolutely nothing to do with content of character.

You can actually apply this same test to just about anything. I know when I first started writing this I had a couple of things I wanted to apply it to. I've been interrupted a few times as I wrote this and I no longer remember what the others were. You've seen what I am doing though and it might be good mental exercise for you, or perhaps you want to write your own blog post related to this... If so. Go for it.

I will state one thing about diversity of skin color. There are two types of racists. Those who want to force diversity, and those who want to crush diversity. The non-racists don't make decisions based upon skin color... PERIOD.

CULTURE

Also... how often is what people are blaming on racism actually a cultural issue? Not all cultures are equal. You also are not forced for life to be in a culture. Yet they are not all equal. Cannibalism, Human Sacrifice, Head Hunters, Pedophilia, etc. All aspects of various cultures. Is it possible that a culture that elevates and admires thugs and thug life might lead to more negative interactions with all aspects of life? The same people that push diversity often also use the phrase "cultural appropriation". It doesn't exist. Cultural Appreciation does exist though.

If an orange guy admires and is inspired by thugs, a purple guy admires and is inspired by thugs, and a green guy admires and is inspired by thugs. They ALL are going to likely have more of the types of interactions you would expect a thug to have. PERIOD. Nothing to do with their color. Purely to do with what they choose to emulate. Now people can be tricked into thinking a CULTURE is a a PURPLE culture and that by bashing a culture you are bashing PURPLE. However, this is not true. Culture is just ideas, mannerisms, and behavior. These can all be learned, or unlearned. Parts that are useful can be used and other parts discarded. This is how cultures tend to evolve. New ideas can explode onto a scene and inspire completely new cultures. The new cultures will still have large number of aspects from previous cultures but they will have forked onto a side path of their own. The key is you have a CHOICE to follow that path or not. Unlike your skin color. Content of your character is a choice. Not always an easy one. Your skin color is not.

EDIT: The image I made at the top I had Dr. King and the quote in place and I started looking for a diversity image and I found the one I included. It immediately clicked into place for the pure irony of how it is fixated around the complete opposite of his quote.

Thats a thing I like about German Rap Culture, here Rap really doesnt belong to any race. Sure we had like a flood of gangster rap from immigrants somewhere between 2008-2016. But Germans have always been the OGs, ofc we have many 2nd or 3rd gen immigrants among them, but it is really never a topic or a way to get street cred, your race I mean.

Maybe a recommendation Deichkind - Richtig Gutes Zeug

And another one that just came to my mind thinking about your topic: B-Tight - der Neger

In the Intro he is talking about Racism and him being an alleged racist while being black himself. He said people should stop bitching around, he was considered a cool kid in his school because he was black and it might have been rough coming from the ghetto, but it was hard for everyone, the germans included.

Rap doesn't belong to a race here either. In fact NOTHING other than skin color belongs to a race.

Culture and Race are very different things. :) Culture can be adopted by anyone. Sure cultures often have people of specific races/traits that are more common but that doesn't mean that race/trait owns that idea/culture. It simply means it is more dominant in that demographic.

Yet culture can be adopted by anyone. Though I also think it is the cultures that end up being where the problems are and often get blamed on race.

We can change cultures. We can fix that.

When we blame it on race though we are picking an evil path because we shouldn't be blaming it on immutable characteristics. That is the path to dehumanization.

Sadly that is often what is being done.

Rap / Hip-Hop often embraced a thuggish culture. Yet they don't have to and not everyone that is a fan of such things decides to be a thug. There are artists in that genre of music that are not thuggish. It simply is that up to a point the thugs in the genre were the most popular. That seems to be changing.

Yeah, Hip-Hop got really annoying at some point but that seems to change. Some of the good German Hip Hoppers also became House artist and I am not even sure if you can call Deichkind even Rap at this point, it is part of their music but it is more Electro than anything else.

I have never been a fan of Rap. I was around and way into music when it first hit the scene. I do however, think Tom MacDonald is pretty bad ass and brave. I am also thrilled to see him doing so well without a label. It is all done by himself and his girlfriend Nova. EDIT: I do appreciate rap battles where they have to come up with it on the spot in response to some input. That can be impressive.

I don't have a solution and there is clearly still racism in the world. It would be just as weird denying that.

But I'm horrified at the way it is dealt with in the US. I can't imagine having to put my RACE on paper in every second questionaire.

Identity politics in general is a huge problem. There are left people who are calling for segregation under the flag of unity. Fighting "cultural appropiation", without realizing they are not allowing cultures and races to mix, to meet and communicate, to grow acustomed to each other...

But there is also the outrage journalism on the right, that will pick up what some random left leaning person on twitter said and turn it into a huge story about the horrible left trying to turn frogs gay again! The fearmongering on every news story. In my country the same people who were the first to rang the alarm bells, when covid came along, because "the government is hiding it from us! People are dying on the streets in China!!", are the people who are now fighting every government measure possible.

You could say, there is little proof of brain out there. :)

I was following the COVID situation from when it was being reported in China and a month (almost two) before the U.S. was reacting to it all. In fact it wasn't even being reported as COVID-19 yet. My family and I took precautions. By the time the government and CDC had started reporting on it we had already had it, and I no longer thought masks were really needed. It has been about fear and control from my perspective. They have even intentionally taken actions to make it worse (especially when Trump was still in office and they wanted to blame him and his administration). It looks really stupid if you think they actually care about the people. If you come to the conclusion it is about fear and control and they don't really care about the people then it transforms from stupid to genius.

Racism is an issue that needs to be resolved to make our society a better place...

It was the lowest it had ever been in history before 2012. Now it is being over amplified (Intentionally) by the captive media. It is interesting that it began to be amplified only a few months after some leech like changes attached to the NDAA 2012 removed a lot of the restrictions against using propaganda (aka lying/manipulation) on the U.S. people (that were in Smith-Mundt act). Then in December, 2016 via executive order the last of those restrictions were removed. There are no longer any restrictions on lying/manipulation, and completely fabricating and amplifying stories and there have not been since that Executive Order. Once you become aware of that in my experience that explains a lot of what the media is doing and why it seems so different. It is different.

Racism cannot be defeated by racism. Those yelling about it the most and making demands based upon it are the ones pedaling racism and making it worse.

Racism will cease to be an issue when people no longer consider race when making decisions.

Diversity (at least the type they are pushing) and Critical Race Theory are so focused on race and artificially paying attention to race that the end up being some of the most racist ideologies/practices in the world today. Yet it is being done under the guise of anti-racism which is a lie.
