The Lion Zealer (Art Practice)

in Proof of Brain11 months ago (edited)

Two days ago, I did my first attempt on creating an art for the LeoFinance Adoption Campaign quest on Zealy. It was an ordeal for me because I have never drawn anything in my entire life or maybe I did way back in my childhood (not sure though because I haven't seen any doodles that I made back in the day). I was just glad that two of the tasks on the quests are intended for amateurs or those with zero know-how in art just like me.

So yesterday, I spent most of the afternoon coming up with something for the second art quest, re:

  • Mission: Draw/Design/Create an image of a Lion interacting with the Leo Finance and the Zealy Logos. (Artist Talent level - Rookie)

Like the first creation, I used Sketch to practice. Rubilu recommended photopea but I'm finding it a bit challenging and I may need more time to get around with it, learn the basics before I start using the application.

Anyway, it took me some time searching most of Web 2 until I finally found a model cub (Credits to the owner) for this task via Pinterest. I was probably drawn to the simplicity of the art or photo and the fun-looking cub so I chose it.

I did some various edits on it, adding the platform where the cub is and erasing the extra noise on the doodle among other things. It's very challenging using the mouse but I had no other way to do it. This actually gave me a thought, it might become a reason to acquire a sketch pad/tab in the near future, lol!

Anyway, I then removed the photo from the page and made some stage-like doodles using the pencil mode and added the Zealy logos and the LeoFinance too. The idea just came randomly but my imagination is in dire need of more polishing so this is just it for now, lol!

I was thinking to add some colors especially that of the stage when I remembered one of the background images on Zealy and went on to download and added it for the stage to appear a little better. Also tried giving the cub some colors but darn, it was tougher than I thought, haha!

I ended up resetting (lots of CTRL F) until I was back to the cub without colors then proceeded with more edits.

Tried my best to refine those lines and in the middle of editing, I wished to just touch the screen and erase the unnecessary noise. Thought it would be easy huh! But not so!

Did some more refining and whilst trying to retouch the lion, my mouse froze. The battery ran out and I didn't have any spare available in the house. Can't do any further editing and since it was already 11 at night, I put things into sleep mode and went to bed.

I went on to work with it this morning, painstakingly coloring the lion. The husband teased me to make it pink saying it doesn't have to follow the conventional. I can't imagine a pink one though, or could you?😅

Also made some changes on the stage. My wrist is hurting already and I'm yet to finish the colors so I might as well just add it when I come up with the final piece later in the day. Surprisingly, it took me a lot longer to make this than when I did my first attempt.

Did another version this afternoon and came up with this one :)

What I might say about this doodle?

The cub is having fun with the zealy campaign and is inviting you to join him too. He wouldn't want you to miss the fun and the learning experiences. Add to that the excitement and zeal that come from competing with others in the community, making us push ourselves forward.

And if there is one thing I'm learning through this process, it is that when we decide to do something, we have to just go forth with it and erase any thoughts of giving up. I also discovered through this endeavor that I actually have a lot of patience in me. If there isn't much, I would have abandoned this quest already, lol! You would say I'm honoring my commitment to myself to finish this adventure knowing that I put effort into it.

Until then, this cub goes on with the quest. Wanna hop on? Click on this link and come aboard!
