Making an Ecency like Proof of Brain Interface

Ecency Adapted to Proof of Brain?

ecencypobmockup.png

When looking at front ends 🧠there are two that stand above the rest. These two are PeakD and Ecency. I am not being paid by @ecency for this post but it may seem a little biased for lack of negativity.

One of the many features I like is the advanced editor. You don't need to know Markdown anymore. Not only can you do all the things you're probably doing now in your posts without needing to use the markup language but you have emojis you can
add snippets which are texts you often add to your texts.

You can set a post set for Proof of Brain to reblog to your blog with two clicks: Click 'Advanced' and click 'Reblog'. You can schedule posts to post at another time.

Notifications work fine

There is a handy Search Box:

The search bar has an advanced option so you can find posts that were written by a specific author which contains a specific phrase, for example,

You can open comments and check out the edit history. If someone says, he never posted something and then edits his post, you can send people there to catch him in the lie.

You can look at the votes and see how much each are worth.

No other front end has these last two features.

There is also a built-in wallet, a proposal and a witness voting system. This package also has a desktop and a mobile app.

What does this have to do with Us?

As the title suggests. I'm going to take the code that Ecency runs and modify it so that it uses POB for displaying everything in terms of POB. The old site will continue and a sister site based on Ecency will spring up. After some time, when @proofofbrainio decides, the new interface will be the primary site and the other can remain as a backup site.

Sort:

Ecency website is opensource and anyone could potentially run fork of that.

note to self fork ecency lol That wont be for a LONG time till I'm ready to take on such a huge project for now I'll keep supporting the pros already keep up the great work.

I really enjoy posting using ecency thanks ecency team😇

@Ecency rocks, I tell everyone , sign up via Ecency and then to download it.

@ecency is the best way to sign up on hive and also best way to view hive.

Your suggestion is very good and I think people will love it

Oh dang! That's sounds amazing... I've enjoyed Peakd for its more robust interface and search functionality, but I didn't really give Ecency a shot. I hope all the different tribe platforms evolve to include these kinds of usability features. Great work, bro! :)

Sounds like a solid plan and a great stepping stone for the platform. With the sister site rolling, we'll be able to utilise the #pob-ideas tag and suggest changes to features, design, and so on. It's encouraging to see the dev wheels starting to spin, that's for sure.

Keep us posted.

I think the best thing about ecency is that it is mobile-friendly. It's good to be able to stay connected even when we're out an about.

If we take Facebook as an example, 81% of users access it only via mobile:

This sounds like a nice plan.
I have been using Ecency from quite a some time and i like it because of its rich features.
Editing is nice with lot of editing options.
It would be lovely to have something similar for POB. Better if this new interface could be a the default interface for all tribes. Could be a template which can replace current template.
Please let me know if you need any help as i am also a software engineer.

Great idea. That would hugely improve the quality of the POB experience.

I am using ecency and its great. So ot would be good to use it also for other frontends.

Sorry, you're out of LUV tokens to be sent today. Try tomorrow. (Having at least 10 LUV in your wallet allows you to freely give 3 per day.)

I only recently became aware of ecency's desktop web-browser front-end.

As you've pointed out, there are a lot of good features there -- I especially like how they put the text of replies in the notifications sidebar -- you can see what everyone has recently said to you, all at a glance.

I had tried the iPhone version of ecency a couple months ago and had a problem getting it to work on my iPhone, so I initially gave up.

However, I recently had a quick discussion about it with @good-karma on a dev site, and he had the bug fixed and a new version uploaded to the App Store in less than a week.

Either one of those front ends is beautiful. It's your code and I'd love to try it.

Is that picture some kind of Proof of no Boomer? Baseball Caps are such a Boomer gear and rock beach, yikes, I hate those.

On the topic: I dont really care about frontends, I still mainly use hive.blog, but I will have a look at yours once its finished.

This is a great idea. Movement and upgrades occurring.

This is absolutely fantastic! As soon as this rolls out I'll switch from PeakD to POB editor. Ecency's last two features are also quite neat. Please keep us in the loop.

This is awesome! I am not familiar with this front end, but it looks great and I am excited to see it in action. Thank you for your hard work.

Seriously though I spend a lot of time within Ecency and Leofinance UI's as I love them and the features that they offer. Leo I believe is getting a update again soon to their UI. A UI is seriously important and a single unique but very popular feature can win the hearts of many to use your interface one of them being the easy of onboarding. I believe firmly it will be front ends such as these two and I hope others that brings the masses to Hive because joining through hive.io is seriously like the worst experience ever in my opinion.

I signed up with Steemit.com. So, my experience of signups is way out of date.

Same it was just recent where I onboarded a few people and wrote up the easiest on boarding process which so far I found was LeoFinance with twitter otherwise I wouldn't have given it a second thought.

So could you send me a link to that? Maybe it's better they go through that service. We should do something like that right in the Proof of Brain front end but that may be the best option for now.

Sure thing I believe this is the first one that lays out the groundwork for getting started. Includes keychain and Twitter for LEO - https://leofinance.io/@bitcoinflood/how-to-join-leofinance-and-create-your-hive-account

Hope it helps. Been trying to onboard as many people as possible and get them up to speed on Hive and tribes.

Would be a cool thing. The condenser front end is always the beginning IMO :)

i like their interface a lot. it's a clean work and well organized .
i support this idea !

Hi @leprechaun, nice to see these posts about coding an interface. There is a repo for the source code?

Posted via proofofbrain.io

I really like the Ecency front end too. Like you say, the search bar is there, and gives relevant results.

A couple things you didn't mention that I like is 1) when you start to write a post it has the last post you made pre-loaded. This saves me a lot of time when I'm updating my daily giveaway. And it saves me trying to remember, and often mistyping, the tags I am trying to use.

  1. The code snipplet feature lets you keep bits of code (maybe wholeposts? I don't know the size restrictions.). I use that for adding the code to put in source on images. I don't have much of a footer, but it would be great for that too.

I actually only recently discovered what "snippets" are. It's another good feature.
