Social Lens No. 24: On the Streets with Corona

in Proof of Brain3 years ago

This is the continuation of the Social Lens series: On the Streets with Corona.

Why 'Social Lens'?

It is called Social, because I am interested in everything related to humanity, how people live and act, what we do consciously and unconsciously, how we effect the world around us and treat one another.

Lens in this context refers to -- wait for it -- the lens of the camera I will be using to take the pictures of what I am seeing (that at least is pretty obvious...), but it also refers to my viewpoint - everything I watch and see is observed through my eyes. There isn't really a way around that of course, and as long as one is aware of that it shouldn't be much of a problem. After all, life is experienced individually and every point of view can add to the greater whole.

On sunny days, the parks are full of people

Last year at this time of year, the scene looked very different: parks were closed off to the public and it was forbidden to meet. This spring, while the rules are still quite restrictive, people seem to be much more at ease outside. Especially young people meet together and don't always follow the social distancing rules.

Hanging out at this wall

overseeing the local lake is very popular. And smoking seems to be on the rise again...

These places where many locals meet

is also a spot for older people (mostly men) who collect the bottles left by the visitors. They can be exchanged for money at the super market which supplements their income to some degree.

Very interesting look at how different groups are handling the 'new world' we live in. Great shots, and interesting lens. (Speaking of which, what 'actual' lens do you use on your camera? Do you always use the same one, or do you swap to different lenses?)

P.S. Thank you so much for tipping me on my Hive Beginner's Guide. You rock! 🙏

thanks for the feedback! I currently use the same lens for these kinds of shots. It's a canon one, I think a 50-250mm. I will be posting more about social life; it's really interesting as I did this 1 or 2 years ago and one can see the contrast to that time now

Understood, well the shots are great, and it's interesting to have a perspective over the years. Thanks again! 😀

Good to see 👍

I hope it continues in this pattern again good to see, in Australia it seems to have gone back to the norm which I am very happy with 😊

great to hear!
