A soul that shines amidst so much darkness

It all starts on December 23rd quite cold, snowflakes were traveling through the air, my mom and I were walking by a garage sale, we saw some nuns selling a painting of a mother and daughter having coffee, I asked them the price, and they told me it cost 10 dollars and I decided to take it with me, when we arrived at the house I went to hang the painting in my room and a piece of paper fell out of the back calling my attention instantly, so I picked it up, it looked pretty old, but it had something written on it, the handwriting was made of black crayon even had coffee stains on it, and it said the following.

Dear Santa.

I know you will never be able to read this letter, this orphanage has a pretty sad atmosphere, I lost my parents in that terrible accident inside the coal factory where it was the only place they found work, it's been a year since that, my parents had lost their excellent office jobs because of the great depression era getting to the point where my whole family was destitute, but at least I had them until then, now I am all alone, but I don't lose hope that all this will end, and I can be happy again, among the darkness there is always light, my name is Jonathan Smith as I write this letter on the cold floor of the orphanage, hiding under my bed and warming myself with just a cup of coffee, I am 11 years old, and I am living the saddest Christmas day a child could ever live.

Despite my problems and although I think that no one could be worse off, at least I am thankful for not being on the streets where I would have surely frozen to death like the beggar I saw last week in the alley nearby, here at least I have some friends and the meager food that the nuns give me along with the prayers that I raise to heaven every day from church so that this reality ends, and I can find a family to adopt me as if I were some kind of small animal in misfortune, but although I know I can not aspire too much, I have the hope that at least they give me a home full of love.

When I read this text, I realized that it was already decades old, so probably the person who wrote those lines had passed away quite some time ago or must have been about 90 years old. However, when I told my mother, she told me something surprising, that person was still alive and not only that, he was also the owner of the biggest toy store in the mall, so I was sure that his life had probably changed a lot after writing it, on that cold night where a hot coffee was his only comfort.

My mom assures me that Mr. Jonathan is one of the best men she knows, and we can find him every Christmas night at the homeless shelter serving free food to the poor and giving away toys to children, but one thing always stands out on his table, and it is a big cup of steaming hot coffee, which has earned him the nickname Coffee Santa because of his long white beard.

I can't let an event like this pass me by, so I told my mother that we should bake one of his famous coffee and chocolate cakes to bring a great gift to this kind-hearted man this Christmas, since we know first hand all that he suffered in order to become a good man.

Nice work making it Christmas themed. Clever.
I'm glad it worked out for the orphan boy in the end. Sounds like he had quite the life.

Hello dear friend, for me Christmas is one of the best times of the year, something that undoubtedly brings out the best of me to create stories with happy endings where I highlight the goodness and joy of human beings, as well as the ability of people to overcome difficulties, that added to the enthusiasm of coffee, great results are obtained as this writing which I really liked to do. I love you very much, thank you for supporting me.
