A much awaited coffee date

This Eid was a bit different, yet I surely wasn't planning it go the way it did. My plan was to sit back and relax, a bit of me time, just how I prefer my holidays. Nowadays I'd rather stay at home and relax a bit, with every little chance I get. A few years ago it used to be the complete opposite though. Things have changed because I don't get much "free time" anymore. I'm always out there, going from one place to another, pushing "needless" traffic, trying to get things done in this "busy" little city.

Yet, I surely don't mind a few spontaneous journeys and experiences. So, thanks to my wife for leading me towards this sweet little experience, a little date on Eid day. It's probably my first ever "Eid date" too, well, at least it's halal haha. Since the wifey has been away for a while, I really couldn't say no to her, she just wanted to go somewhere, anywhere. On top of that, you really don't have many places to go to during Ramadan, most of us are cooped up during this time, sometimes willingly.

So, we got ready in a jiffy and just headed out towards one of the nearby cafe's. Arabika Coffee, a new coffee shop was our first choice, sadly for us, when we got there the place was absolutely packed. People were even standing in line, waiting to pounce and snatch an empty table.

And that is exactly why I don't like spending my holidays outside, it's a small city with too many people, barely enough space to even breathe.

NO WAY IN HELL was I stepping in there, even paying me wouldn't work, and bear in mind, I do love some free money haha. I already push enough traffic and pedestrians on the daily, so I surely wasn't ready to ruin the evening by standing in line, just waiting to get a table.

Therefore, we both decided to take a left turn instead and started walking towards Unimart, hoping that Chef's Table(a popular food court) is up and running. Luckily, this place was open, and fairly packed too, but we did manage to get a table somehow.

This place surely wasn't anything like the average food court. It was well maintained, well lit, nothing too intense, minimalistic approach with the aesthetics.

Surprisingly though, Tabaq Coffee was operating here too, I've never been to Chef's Table before, but I surely did know about Tabaq's available branches. I guess this one was new, or it simply wasn't listed on their website or page. If you guys remember my previous post in the community, a short review on Tabaq, then you already know how much I love Tabaq.

We both had the menu almost memorized from our previous visits, yet we still haven't tried a lot of the items, I guess we just like playing it safe when it comes to food haha.

So, we both just decided to head towards Tabaq, it was an easy bet, less thinking and more doing. We really weren't in the mood to gamble our money on an unsatisfactory coffee experience lol.

Tabaq really deserves an award of some sorts, even this small little spot of theirs, in this huge food court had their signature touch. Same old classy decor, the same tone and mix of dark, yet gratifying colors. You just can't go wrong with Tabaq, they somehow manage to be consistent in every department.

Now, enough with the aesthetics and looks, time for some food.

Starting with coffee, we went with our safe bets once more, and decided to go with some good ole cappuccino. From a list of popular mouth-watering sandwiches, we went with the roast beef sandwich, this one's without a doubt our favorite.

Yet, we changed things up a tad bit, as suggested by our kind waiter, we decided to go with brown bread instead of white this time. Also, after being suggested by him, we decided to take a slice of the new tempting and in demand slice of cake, the ultimate chocolate cake. We usually go with cheesecakes, but the man kindly suggested we change things up a bit, and I sure am glad we listened to him. The man surely knows what he's doing.

After sipping on some proper coffee, being well fed and loaded with that savory roast beef sandwich, then ending it all with some rich and delectable chocolate cake, we were finally on our way home.

All in all, not a bad day, not at all...

Cheers guys ☕️
