Getting A Push To Do More

in Hive Learners2 years ago
Hey there,

Today I want to write on how I got my first income and how motivated I was. It was a little girl's joy to earn her first income for the first time.

It happened when I was about 9 years old. My dad has moved to a new apartment in a very big compound with many neighbors. At first, we were always indoor because my dad never wanted us to mingle too much with the kids around. But anytime he went for work, he will leave us with one young lady to take care of us.

The lady was a very good hairstyle and I just kind of loved her for many reasons. She was welcoming, playful, a good cook and also a good hairstylist.

During the weekends, people always come to her with their children to make their hairs against the upcoming week. Whenever she was making their hair do, I'll always love watching her and also assist her in any way I could. She saw that I was learning very fast and she had to draw me closer and she did something that I was not expecting at all. She told one of the child to sit down and she asked me to make her hair. At first I thought it was a joke because I was not sure if I was really going to do well but surprisingly to everyone including myself, I did really well.

Hey, wait that was not when I got my first earning 😁😁.

After that experience, people saw that I was really good with the hair I made for the little girl. One Saturday, a friend of mine was looking for where to make her hair because the person that normally makes her hair was not available so she asked me if I would be able to make it for her. It sounds crazy but I said "why not". Should I say that was one of the worst answers I've ever given. She had a very full hair and it was also very long. Could you believe it took me almost two days to finish making that hair? Saturday and Sunday after we came back from church, she had to take half hair to church 😅😅.

After I finished making her hair she looked so beautiful, she loved her hair, even her parents too and they paid me #300 for my services rendered. At that time, that money was huge for me and after that first work I always tried my best not to make a hair for more than a day and it has been going well. Finishing that hair was a really great push for me to do more, I was motivated by the pay and I kept learning more so I can deliver more.

This was how I got my first income and how I became an hairstyle. Thank you for reading through, see you at my next blog ❣️❣️.

Oh no partner, I have noticed that you have not been your usual bubbly self, I hope things are okay with you, and push push , push that head of yours above the water, you can do it!

I think I love this. It's obvious you learned fast. But why would you allow her to carry half hair to church hope? 😂. Anyways, you are awesome and I love the fact that you never underrate yourself.

I just noticed something hope. You got #300. Why would you get the same amount I got as my first earning🤔? I'm beginning to suspect you 😂

It was not intentional, her head was big and her hair is long and remember I'm just a little girl who just found a career 😁😁.

I noticed that too when I read from you and I was like, is that a coincidence? Well it's not it just happened 😅.

I really appreciate you stopping by and leaving your comment.

Wow, that's awesome. So how did you get you first income? If you don't mind sharing.

Actually, my dad owned a hair styling salon. he had 3 women working for him, and as a kid, I was paid to go in after school, and sweep hair, wash combs and brushes, and restock the shampoo's and conditioners. Also, poaid to lay out the hair colour supplies. Collect and clean towels and finally, wipe down mirrors and clean them, too.

That's awesome. You must have been a really hardworking child then and that is fantastic.

Thank you for sharing with me 🤗.

That's amazing that you found joy in styling hair at such a young age, Hope😍but oh my goodness I was ROTFLLLLL at this bit

...it took me almost two days to finish making that hair... she had to take half hair to church

Clearly, you did a great job, though if her parents paid you for your time and expertise❣️ Do you find yourself having to do everyone in the families' hair these days now that you're a local hotshot stylist hehe.

I came across your post in Dreemport.

Yeah it was really funny but we couldn't do anything about it.

Yes, I felt really happy to get my first earning.

You must have been so ecstatic with the earning knowing you actually worked to earn that. The first time I earned any money was the first time I worked as a teacher.

You are welcome

Excellent recall of the beginning of your "adulting" with real work @hopestylist! You did amazing on your first premiere though, even though it was without pay. That was a good sign.
But I'm not understanding your answer "one of the worst answers I've ever given" since that answer is one that can get a hesitant person to do something they do not feel ready for yet may very well be.

I see where you got the name stylist from, that cool.
You know for the fact you try to finish whatever hair you starts in a day makes you discipline and devoted to your job.
You must have been really happy doing that
Well done.

Yeah you got that right😁😁.

Yes, making hair for people taught me how to be disciplined. And starting with the girl's hair and finishing it, made me really happy.

Thank you for stopping by and leaving your comment 🤗🤗.

Wow... The motivation did more than help you finish. It also made you to get better at the skill so that you can even continue making hair for more people and hence make more money.
Thank you for sharing this with us.
