Rainfall is a natural blessing for humanity. It has a season, and at its rightful time, we can't stop it. I have experienced different occasions in my village where the rainmakers try to keep rain from falling, but many times they fail. It's just natural. Have you wondered how badly our crops will do without this natural gift? Of course the farmers wouldn't be smiling if rain seizes to fall at its rightful time because their harvest will be greatly affected and thus affect you and me as regards foodstuffs.

Getting beaten by the rain is something I experienced recently, precisely on April 23, 2023. Of course, I have had other similar experiences during my childhood, when my twin brother and I intentionally played under heavy rain with nakedness, suffering negative effects like cold and the like. I guess a lot of children, mostly in rural areas, did this as well, and our parents will always frown at it, but we won't listen. However, I will share this recent experience, which has stayed in my mind, and I doubt if I can forget the rain torture in a hurry. LOLZ

If you read my post on INFLATION, you will discover that I mentioned a village market I discovered recently that I visited for bulk buying in order to save cost. A friend of mine gave me information about how cheap the cost of food is over there compared to where I buy it here in Lagos State, Nigeria. So on April 23rd, a Saturday morning, I quickly dressed up to go to the market. I wish I was a prophet; I wouldn't have stepped out that very day. I would have chosen another day.

I had lists of food items I planned to buy, and just when I was in item 2, the cloud changed, and, everywhere started getting dark. Note: This is an open market; it's like a new market where local buildings are still in a carcass state, so there is no hiding place for me. Oh my goodness, the downpour took off without control. I had planned on taking pictures of the market shopping to blog on Market Friday Community, but the rainfall messed me up. I quickly found a nylon, wrapped my phone, and hid it inside my handbag, which I crossed over my shoulder. Who cares about taking shots again? lol, at this point, I don't even care about how I will be soaked under the rain, but how I can save my mobile phone. Glad it was saved! I saw mothers hustling for food items even in the rain. Food sellers had umberalla selling under the rain. With nowhere to hide, I was beaten mercilessly by the rain. I pitied myself, but why I didn't feel bad is because other women like me were still under the rain hustling food items at an affordable price. I joined them too; it was indeed a sacrifice, but I'm glad I didn't feel sick after the experience.

The good thing is that I got the food stuffs at affordable prices and saved a lot of money 🤑💰 compared to what I usually buy in our regular market, but I came back home soaked, wet, and shivering a bit, but I was fine after taking a warm bath.

This is one of my experiences where I was beaten by the rain but was glad I got what I wanted even with the rain torture.
