Hello, everyone.

Welcome to my blog and another wonderful edition of the Hive Learners' featured post. Many people are ashamed of their hometown and will never tell you where they are from unless your relationship with them is very tight. Some even go as far as claiming another person's hometown.

I am proud of my hometown, and I'd be proud to say it anywhere. If you hide your hometown, you hide your identity, and without an identity, you are not known. I hail from Ndi-Ibe village in the Ohafia Local Government Area of Abia State, which is located in the eastern part of Nigeria. While growing up, I rarely visited my home town because of my dad's workplace.

My dad was working in Yobe State, and moving the entire family from Yobe State to Abia State was not easy, so we only visit the village once every three years. Each time we are in the village, my dad tries to teach us some of the traditions, including how and when they are observed.

The people of Ohafia were known to be hardworking until civilization took control of the land. The people of Ohafia were known to be farmers, and the land is blessed beyond measure, as every crop planted in Ohafia yields fruits, and the people are able to earn a living and provide for their needs by selling their farm produce.

The youths who were not opportune to go to school did menial jobs to earn a living and support the family in any way possible. Some are cyclists, some are taxi drivers; everyone is just working one way or another to make sure there's food on the table for the family.

The people of Ohafia are also known for their bravery; they will never allow you to oppress them, especially in their land. I heard stories of how they always conquered neighboring villages that came looking for trouble.

Also, the love that exists between the 26 villages in Ohafia cannot be found anywhere else; if you trouble a single village in Ohafia, you automatically trouble the whole of Ohafia. They look out for one another and coexist peacefully. I have never heard of land disputes between villages in Ohafia. The people of Ohafia stand for love and unity.

The Ohafia war dancers. People from both far and near come to watch them display. The Ohafia war dancers make us distinct; they only perform on occasions such as traditional retirement and traditional marriage for those that can afford them. They don't perform on occasions that are not unique.

Our local delicacies are too numerous to mention; we have uba agwlu agwo and okazi agwlu agwo. These ones are not famous, but they are similar to abacha, just that abacha is made from cassava and okazi agwlu agwo is made from okazi leaf. There are so many other delicacies you can be entertained with when you visit Ohafia.

Ohafia people are also medicinal; they use roots and herbs to get themselves medicine. My uncle, who suffered a stroke and was treated at the hospital, but it seemed he was not responding to treatment, was taken to the village. Today he is okay, like he never suffered a stroke.

There are so many other things that make the people of Ohafia unique and distinct amongst others. Thanks.

Before now, I used to detest traditional stuffs because of church but now, I go head on to watch and take pictures. I love to see traditional displays...but I'm lazy to perform like you on the traditional cap🙈

😂😂 Guys will always be guys 😂.

I was actually forced to wear the cap, because failure to do so means you have signed for strokes from masquerades.

Lol🤣🤣.
Those masquerades don't know indigenes?

I've been to Igbo land, and their masquerades don't chase indigenes, they only hunt for non indigenes for flog

On this particular occasion anyone be that does not put on a traditional attire will be flogged, whether indigen or not.
