My Saturday: A Day of Unexpected Twists and Turns

in Hive Learners11 months ago

Have you ever made plans that all ended up going the way you least expected them to? I guess you would have, because in this life, it is common to make plans for an occasion, and when the time comes, things do not go the way we want them to, or we face things we least expected that would make our day a whole lot different from the way we thought it would be.

This was how my Saturday went—totally different from how I had imagined it to be. I had played the scenario of my experience for the meeting I was going to before I travelled to Lagos from school. In fact, it is the main reason for my travelling, but things went a whole different way than I imagined. So let me tell you how it went.

To understand this story, I would suggest you read the post I last published, which talked about my travelling to Lagos from school, before you continue on with this. Click the image below to visit the post:

First, my trip to Lagos was more stressful than it usually is. It takes me less than 3 hours to get home from Lagos, but this time, I used about 6 hours to journey to Lagos with the traffic I face and all that. With all the stress, I had to go to the vigil my dad invited me to. I had no choice, even though I knew I was too tired and did not want to go again.

After the vigil, I noticed my dad would not be able to take me to where I was going with his car, just as he promised. I got annoyed that I had to come to Ikorodu, which is very far from where I was intentionally going, instead of going to where my brother stays, which is way closer.

The journey from my side to the venue was almost 2 hours, and I still attended a vigil, during which I would need to rest enough in order to have the strength to get where I was going. When I got home from the vigil around seven, I had to quickly prepare my stuff to leave home as early as possible, but I got to the park late because my house is far from where I would take a bus to the venue.

The programme was to start by 10 a.m., and I was getting to the park by 9:20 a.m. for almost a 2-hour drive. I knew I would be getting there late regardless, but I still wanted to go. My energy totally died when I had to wait at the bus terminal for over an hour as there was no bus to pick us up. I was at the terminal until 10:40. I looked at the time and when the programme was ending—which was 12 p.m.—to know if I should still stay or leave.

To worsen things, I started feeling like going to the toilet while waiting in the queue. I had no other choice but to cancel my trip because if the bus came around, I would be getting there by 1 pm, and I would also have to hold myself for almost 2 hours before I could get a toilet to use.

I changed my mind instantly. I went to find a public toilet to use and then went straight back home, angry about the whole day. I had spent quite some money to be able to get to the park and loaded some money on my transport (BRT) card.

I was very tired and unhappy at the same time. I was sleeping in the vehicle I took back home, and I went straight to bed after I got home. I didn't know what else to be doing, as being awake would make me think about the whole day, which would not help matters for me.

Anyway, that's how the whole day went. I take it as God's plan for me. Maybe he has better plans for me; who knows?

Lagos movement is unpredictable when it comes to timing. Traffic most times determines the actual time of our arrival to a particular place. So sorry every stress you went through yesterday. Hopefully you will be lucky next time...
Come to think of it, if nature didn't call while waiting, you may have risk going and meet another traffic which might prolong the estimated time of reach vi the more .. perhaps reaching around 2pm or so.

I wish you a safe trip back to school

yeah true oh... If not that nature called ehn... and I went to face another traffic. It would have been very annoying. Maybe there was a reason why I was feeling like going to use the bathroom.

I'm not Lagos based yh but sometimes I just wonder how Lagosians cope navigating their way on a daily bases with the constant road traffic. I sincerely can't deal !

Bro seriously... Lagosians are superhumans... They are trying abeg. you should come hangout in Lagos for a while to have a taste of how things are.

Omoh! I'll pass for now boss !!

Sometimes, we don't understand why things happen the way they do, but maybe it's all for a reason that we'll come to understand in the future. Keep your head up buddy, and keep making plans; who knows what wonderful surprises may be in store for you in the future!

Hey, I noticed you used Threads back in March. The User interface works better now, maybe you want to give it another try!

Yeah brother thank you very much. There is always a reason for everything and we would know when the time comes.

About threads, I do come around but not with this account...

LoL 😂 Lagos actually know how to make someone's life miserable without asking for it
Traffic alone can make you sick in Lagos

that traffic is the exact thing why I am running away from wanting to stay in Lagos.. I don't like frustration in this life.

Lagos can be very annoying. Welcome to the family.. hehehe.

You have to make like 1hour-2hours extra for anything that might occur, It can very stressing oo.. I can totally imagine the frustration, what is even more frustrating is the fact that you went back without achieving the goal.

I’m so sorry for the stress…. But like you said, there is a reason for everything.

Lol welcome to the family khe... I was born and raised in Lagos, so I sabi as he dey be in Lagos but e no mean say I like am sha.

yeah true... you have to make an hour or 2 hours extra time if one is in lagos or else disappointment and frustration go just dey do person.

Hopefully today will be better :) ... I've definitely had rough unplanned days before, and eventually most become good memories!

One of the things i hate doing is waiting. The exhaustion that ensues when you eventually get a bus can be really fraustrating. Eventually the need to use the bathroom came. The plan would eventually change I guess. Better luck next time.

Eventually the need to use the bathroom came.

Bro! I am just imagining how it would have been for me let's say a bus came around and I had not got to the bathroom. I would be battling with my system to hold on make I reach destination first.

Lol, funny how this thing's called nature happens sometimes we don't expect it. I was actually thinking you wer going to risk going for the program and not settle nature first, lol. The true nature would have showed you pepper..lol

The true nature would have showed you pepper..lol

My guy, it would have not been easy oh... but thank God for grace.

Lol, I would have imagined what it would have been seeing a big boy like you displaying outside the road😃😃
