Hello and lo and behold the aspen.
Come walk with me on this wonderful autumn Wednesday, and let us together enter a colorful arcadian aspen grove all aglow with the roaring yellows of fall.
We are deep in the San Isabel National Forest here, far from civilized society and completely free to appreciate the serene beauty of nature neither scathed nor scarred by the hands of men.
All out here is peaceful, quiet, and untouched by the likes of destructive humankind.
Now look with me upon these idyllic aspen trees, and marvel at their unspoiled bloom and immaculate glamor:
Are these fair trees we see here before us not outlandishly lovely?
Do they not fill our eyes and our minds and our very souls themselves with heavenly treasure troves of stunning rustic inspiration?
(Warning: Crude wood carving below, viewer discretion advised)
Is there really anything in nature that truly compares to the unadulterated grace of an aspen grove in such full fall adornment as this?
…
I think not.
…
…
…
…
We are in the aspen and the aspen are in us.
And just like us the aspen bleed when cut.

10-13-21. Stop carving your goddamn initials into trees @otherbrandt.
Despite the modern day hieroglyphical abuse, the splendour is there for all to see.
They were here long before us, they will remain when we are but a fading memory. Without the essential function they serve, we would all be a memory already, albeit a memory with none left behind to remember.

Damn that was a beautiful comment.
Oh the stupidity. Oh the thoughtlessness! People thinking that this is cool. ☹️ I actually have no more words, no witty remark, nothing. I'm just... appalled.
Time for some sad appalling !PIZZA 😄
Thank goodness sad and appalling pizza is still good. Thank you!
Which one did you carve?
The one with the penis, duh.
Dayuuuuuuuum! All those shots, the aspen trees look scarred. It's surreal. It absolutely sickens me on so many levels.
Sadly it's rather common to see such heedless vandalism around here. Always the aspen, never the pines, because the aspen trunks are white and make a fine canvas, apparently.

I was initially anticipating a walk through unadulterated aspens. I should have known better. You know how some feel when an animal is harmed? Extend that to include all of the natural world and that's about how I feel seeing this. Never in my life would it occur to me commit such an act against a tree. Of course they'd think it a nice white canvas. I wonder how they'd feel if they were the canvas for a tree.
If I ever catch someone carving up a tree like that, I will let you know.
Looks like that alien knows what's what.
🤣 I want to read a post about that, I really do.
It's the mind reading capability, they see right through human minds.
I hope these images make some people aware of how terrible it is to deface nature. It’s so terribly disrespectful, not only of these beautiful trees but of those who go to the woods to enjoy natural surroundings. Ugh!
One can only hope!
If a tree falls in the forest on someone who is disrespecting nature… does anyone care? :)

If a person is going to tattoo a tree, it seems like the person at least ought to put something on there trees like. A wood carving of a pretty bird, or a lovely rainbow...maybe a large tree branch crushing a tent.
That bloody one is an excellently sad finale.
It's both saddening and maddening to see such abuse. And it's not uncommon here 🙁
LOL… don't give me nightmares now ⛺️

Maybe finding a good campsite should involve inspecting the nearby trees to see if they might have a reason to seek revenge.
Now that's good tentlife advice right there :D
The golden beauty of the aspen firest at this time of year is so special
I do not understand why some feel the need to scar the trees

I think carving on trees is a cultural thing. Some people are raised up that way, thinking it's okay. When you're raised up thinking something's okay, you just do it without consideration… at least until someone comes along and challenges your way of thinking. Hopefully someone who thinks it's okay to carve on trees sees this post, and reconsiders.
That’s a good point
And let’s hope this post does change one persons personal
