This isn't Going To Be A Walk in The Park

in Wednesday Walklast year

Last week, I made a deal with the puppy. She's four months old now—legal age to cut deals.

"Two walks a day," she said, "each on neutral territory like a state park or mountain trail, one in the morning and another in the evening. And some jumps in the back yard," she continued, suggesting we use a couple of the tree stumps laying around out there. "Some type of slalom course, too, and a ladder to climb up and down." I was all.

You demanding little female daw..

"Awwww, I'm not done!!" She said contemptuously with two exclamation points before I finished my sentence. "A berm shot around the oak tree in the muddy corner like a downhill mountain bike course and a rope swing by the hammock."

For a four month old puppy, your English is remarkable but you don't call the shots here! Our second walk will be around the neighborhood, not a trail or state park, now show me where you want that rope swing.

Then it rained.

And rained.

Three days! Then we had an appointment at the vet where I pick up her monthly dose of heart worm / flea / tic on the other side of the mountain so I went like.

Look, I don't care if you don't care it's raining. I'm not going out there. But, if it's not raining tomorrow, we'll find a cool spot after we get your pill.

That's why they call this area of the Appalachian Mountains The Smoky's. They spell it with a Y like that, too.

With the amount of rainfall here, annually, and drastic temperature changes in the fall and spring where it'll be sub-freezing at night and 75 degrees at noon, as the trees dry out, they smoke.

The office ladies all came out from behind the counter to adore Atlas for a minute before we took off to a cool spot like I said we would if it isn't raining tomorrow. It's tomorrow now. It's not raining.

State park, not sure what it's called. The one across from Rural King that sells everything from live chickens to ammo and beach towels where a young employee was shot and killed for trying to stop a customer from shoplifting two months ago.

Nice park. Paved footpaths, a little playground for the kids, picnic area, toilets, trash cans, more park stuff. Grass, too, it's everywhere except for where it isn't. And about that many trees. They're doing the dead look.

And a lake. Lake Isn'tSupposed2BThere, I've since decided to call it for this article. Pretty sure it was a stream or maybe even a creek last week but it rained for three days. Not rain like don't forget your umbrella, either, rain like kayak to work day.

I don't have a kayak.

Such a fun read 😎
A beat atlas was glad to finally get his way and out for a walk

Thanks for joining Wednesday Walk :), I truly enjoy exploring the world virtually each Wednesday seeing walks from all around the globe and feeling I am there and experiencing it all myself, such as I did in your post just now :)

Glad you enjoyed it. Thank you.

I took her over there again today, water levels are back to normal. She went swimming. And subsequently stunk up the whole car.

Walking with pets can be a wonderful experience that brings about a range of positive feelings. The companionship of a pet can create a sense of happiness and joy, while being outdoors in nature can provide relaxation and a break from the stresses of daily life. Walking with a pet can also deepen the bond between pet and owner, creating a strong connection and sense of responsibility. This shared experience can generate a feeling of gratitude for the health and companionship of your pet. Overall, walking with pets can be a rewarding experience that fosters positive emotions and a sense of wellbeing for both you and your furry friend.

The park seems too relaxing ❤

Anyone ever tell you you write like an encyclopedia?

I mean no disrespect. When each sentence reads like AI or Wikipedia I find myself intensely inspecting my dried trees like what the..

But it passed the search engine test so maybe you write like an encyclopedia. = }

Cheers!

whoa! lots of rain! ☔⛈ i take it she doesn't like that..

Live Chicken Ammo, huh?? sounds pretty awesome! :P

Whaddup chinito.

Yeah. Weird, right? Live chickens, farm equipment, grenade launchers, grass seed. All under one roof.

She l.o.v.e.s the water. Got her first dose of a lake yesterday. A real lake. Funny, she was ears deep in it.

😜😉 nice! my cat.. almost everytime I go into the bathroom now..

image.png

silly animals! :P

Laugh Out Loud. Thanks for sharing that. I haven't been awake too long, love me some humor first thing.

Good morning!

OMG, did it rain over there or something? I mean, you didn't mention it so I figured I'd just ask.. You should always listen to the lady btw, she knows what's best for her!

I totally expected this post to be about poop used for heating and then making a business out of it.. :)

!PIMP

Three days!

Her personally shows a little more each day. Such an attitude. She throws herself on the floor even, too funny, makes heavy sigh sounds, plops on the floor—dunk!

Still working on that. Smells funny but hey, who can't use a little phone charging for free?

Haha, while reading this I can totally see this. Did she learn this from you though? Or who showed her to be such a character?

Keep working on it for sure, and make sure to update us in a post :)

You must be killin' it out here!
@thisismylife just slapped you with 5.000 PIMP, @dandays.
You earned 5.000 PIMP for the strong hand.
They're getting a workout and slapped 2/2 possible people today.

Loved this. Your dog clearly DOES rule the roost. That adorable face... I can see why.

I didn't know that's why it was called the Smokeys. So cool..love Hive.

Thanks so much. And I love me a River sighting.

Ain't she just the cutest? I waited a long time between my last dog and this one. So worth the wait.

Always a pleasure when you stop by. <3

Just who the hell is up there spoiling your pup that way?? lol Way to show her who's boss! My word she's growing up fast, and gorgeous too!

Thank you, miss Lovelace. How are you? Thanks for keeping an eye on me. <3

She's gorgeous isn't she? She knows it, too, her and her little attitude. I love it.

Your dog looks quite big for a four month old. It's a beautiful dog✨

This places are nice spots. I don't know if they look better with the rain or without the rain

She's a giant little thing. Big clutsy puppy learning how to be a dog out there tripping over her own feet, barking at leaves, chasing reflections.. Loving it.

She is getting big and demanding hahaha 🤣
Good for her. Enjoy the puppy time 😎 soon she has a rhythm.

What a rain that must have been, wow…
Of course you don’t want to go out, but doggy does… always.
Love the views of the mountains… stunning @dandays 😊
Hope you guys are well.
Enjoy the mid-week ☀️

There you go again, being a sweetheart. Hello, LittleBee, hope Scotland's keeping you entertained.

She's getting so big so fast. Such a puppy though so walking in her big ol' feet trips her up sometimes. Not uncommon she makes herself fall. It's great.

Thank you.

Hehehe always, especially for you 😊🤗😋
Hello my friend, Scotland is keeping me entertained indeed… for as long as it may be. (They refused me too 😔 so we have to find another solution)

Aawww I can see it in front of me, she tripping over her big feet getting somewhere quickly 😄😂 aaawwww that must be the cutest thing. Enjoy the puppy stage, they grow up quickly 😎

You are welcome, have an awesome day 👋🏻

They refused me too

No shit?! I felt so alone for awhile. I read a couple pieces about people staying in UK from other countries and was seriously trippin like it was personal they wouldn't let me stay.

Did you get the same denial because you're not from a war torn country? Refugees were receiving priority which is fine, I would insist they receive priority anyway, over spouses.

The only way I had a chance of staying was to separate from Pura, go back to the states and forfeit my passport to UK while Pura remained in England for medical purposes. That process was to take "6-8" months.

They expected me to separate from my wife, their citizen, who's chronically ill and hand over my passport for the majority of a year.

WTF

How rude. I'm all bla bla about me me me and you're living it. What now? What's the first phase of thinking sound like?

Sorry that's happening to you.

Nope, you are not alone anymore… we can almost open our little club together hahaha 🤣

I know what you mean, it’s great other countries help. But what if you have no residency anymore… where to next? They said I ticked all boxes. Before our actual move.
They helped us in November what to apply for and even what to fill in with certain questions. And when we should apply. Now… they say it was too late and what “they” filled in was the reason for refusal.
pardon me?” Yep, you read that right…. 😵‍💫 I’m confused 😕

We can’t believe it… crazy things. And “without medical reason or being a refugee you can’t stay” they said. And just like you. Go out of the country alone for up to a year until we maybe approve another visa so you can join your husband, also Pay 15k£ plus over a period of 5 years… 😳
Nope not with us. We don’t want to be apart for almost 1 year. (Waiting lines are much longer now) I have no country to go to… so what the f ***

Yes, like with you… they are CRAZY! To even say that to you. Leave your spouse…

No worries… you know what I feel right now. It will bring up emotions.
We talked this week a few times with a lawyer. We are talking with work what options they have for other countries. As soon as I know more I let you know. It will be a move again… sigh… again… 😔
And we only wanted to settle down… I’m not even a burden to any other state.
Luckily we adjust quickly. But it still hurts. It’s so wrong. (They refused on their own answer.)

Thank you, sorry it happened to you too.
Hope you are settling in well there 😊

£15k, yikes. Yeah, less than a year ago when I was in it like you are, it was £5k. That's a helluva markup.

Not only was I to separate from her for nearly a year and release my passport but it would've cost me £5k.

I know exactly what you're going through. Been there, done that, got the t-shirt. We had to leave. I'm sorry that's happening to you.

Please do keep me posted. I know your husbands work will navigate the majority of your path. You're a lot like me, bobbing and weave with the punches. Gets exhausting after awhile.

<3

It still is, but to stay… you have to repeat the same process at 2 years and 9 month, and 2,5 years after that. Plus all the double cost from living apart a year I haven’t added yet. That’s a renovation of a cottage…
I think now, their loss… we will move on.
Now we need to wait indeed what work says. 🤓As that is the main factor that influences our lives at the moment.

I know, it is just crazy, on one hand they want you to proof you have a relationship and be together and then they separate you? It so doesn’t make sense…

Thanks a lot @dandays 🤗
I will keep you posted, and it sounds like we have a lot more in common than we thought 😎
Up to plan… D or was it F or … hahahaha 🤣😂
Enjoy your day 👋🏻☀️

When they look at you with that "You're taking me with you, right? You're not leaving me here alone are you? Cuz I HATE THAT!" look, I am all like "oh I am such a terrible dog mommy!" I give mine treats at that time. I have to see that happy look again! What if I wake up tomorrow morning and she's suddenly a lunatic dog?

Our daily routine is that she goes out into my back yard mornings to do her business, then waits for me to get it together for her one daily off-leash walk. We live in the northern reaches of Appalachia, so we have lots of places to choose from for that. Then one leash walk later in the day if I feel like it. If not, it's back to my yard for her evening business. She is very happy with this routine.

I'm on the road for two weeks with my dog. We've been to three places so far, only two more to go. The first four all have fenced in back yards so I could/can just let her out, no leash walking. The last will have 100 acres I can let her run free on. I've taken her for only one leash walk. Everything is in large part about and for my pup now.

Atlas is quite the looker!

= } Ain't she gorgeous?

Are you Air B&B'ing? Sorry if you've mentioned. I haven't had much time to consume much of anything lately. I'll try to get by more often.

If not Air B&B then what? Was it difficult to find that many places who are dog friendly? You either picked the route or the joints who accommodate pets picked it.

We've began some routines also. I set up a couple different little obstacles in the yard for her already. We practice quite a bit. Except right now. Vet said she's got growing pains—nips at weird places like a toe or her tail randomly and the last couple days, switches sides in the front to limp on.

So I'm taking it easy on her. 4 months and she's 49 lbs. Puppy. I never really considered it might hurt.

Some mornings were both like yeah I think I'll stay right here for a minute.

Oh she is going to be big!!! My Hazel is one year, full grown, 27 pounds. Perfect size - not small, but not too big for me to pick her up and carry her. She won't do new stairs, so I do have to carry her quite often - whenever we are in a new place. Eventually she figures out that she can do them, but the first couple days, I have to carry her.

Airbnb! I search first for ones that take dogs, then for those that have fully fenced yards. Surprisingly many of them do. I like to be comfortable, no freaking camping for me. Full homes. The last one had a sauna.

I suppose a dog that size is going to have growing pains. Do they distress her? Or just you?

I just got a trainer. Hazel was good, but I feel a need to find things for her to do with me besides just fetch and catch and that type of thing. Also better leash skills (don't pull my arm out of my socket), come when called (even when there's a car, dog, human, squirrel etc present), stop barking at every little thing that walks by the house. She's very smart!

I'm the problem, trying to find the easiest way to get through the next moment with her, usually by sticking something in her mouth. We were just outside playing fetch with a ball. The snow is ice. It was pretty funny to watch her take these tiny mincy steps over to the ball and back. Tired her out long enough for me to type this comment, so I'm good.

Sounds like you and hazel are perfect for each other. Have you ever tried a pincher? I don't like chokers. Not a fan of pinchers either but they work. And they're only until the dog learns the leash.

That's funny about steps.

No, they only distress me. 'Is she limping.. does she have enough food.. are her toenails ok'... et cetera.

Your little stay-cay or road trip or whatever it's officially called sounds like a helluva time. Minus the snow, of course.

Unless it's your own store I don't know why anyone would even bother trying to stop a shoplifter. Killed to save another person a few bucks seems more than a little wasteful lol

What he said.

What's up Leaky? Man, even if I owned the joint, I'd like to think I'd just give insurance a call. Hindsight's always 20 something or other.

But if I worked there.. Ha! Yeah right, I'd be like, have a nice day!

Haha yeah exactly. Insurance is a good point too.

It's nice that they put benches out for the swimmers, too!

😂😂😂

Those are stationary life jackets actually. Pretty cool huh?

Brilliant! What wonders of redneck engineering will we experience next?

You ever seen a Netflix special called Murdaugh Murders? Short, only like a couple shows but dayum! That'll keep you awake.

What's this got to do with redneck engineering? Nothing, it's how they respond outta left field.

I haven't watched that one yet... murder porn is more Hedge Witch's thing. I could use something to keep me awake though, so maybe I'll give it a try.

Have the neighbors lost their curiosity about your coyote yet?

No hell no, it's worse than you think. All I ever really want is people stay tf away from me and she stops traffic. Dude, literally. 4-way stop, 3 cars with windows down dot dot dot.

Had to pick her up and get outta sight.

Get a Yankees or Dodgers bandana to tie around her neck... that'll get them looking the other way!

That's a lot of rain, would you have preferred snow? I know up here, snow is better than rain. With so many dirt roads it turns into nothing but a muddy mess.

IMG_0057.JPG

The mud drives @farm-mom a little crazy. With her father being a big-time road builder and with his favorite saying being, "MAKE IT BLACK" I think she would pay out of pocket to have the road paved.

Atlas is one good-looking hyena, coyote, or whatever one thought he was after viewing your previous post. To me, Atlas looks like a German Shepard, he's just one of a kind. Your patience paid off with this call. Great pics in the post where you highlighted Atlas, saw it last week and thoroughly enjoyed it. Besides having to go outside with a pooper scooper in both hands, you guys seem to really be taking to your new family member.
From what I've heard, Atlas should be at the top of his class intellectually. If that's the case I'd be teaching him how to pick up after himself. You should start now before he develops a bad habit.

Pick up after herself! Dude that's genius. I bet I'd be more famous than Ryan Gosling if Atlas could pick up her own turds.

Good morning Sweed. Thanks for the reblog too. You too, @farm-mom, I saw you. Thank you both. And while I got you Farm-Mom, just know I wanted to say all the right things. I have a vague idea what you're going through. She was lucky to have you. Death sucks. <3

I would l.o.v.e to get the Subaru all filthy on your road. Man that looks like a good time. Would thoroughly piss everyone off who relies on the road for access but meh.... = }

Much thanks for all of your support Sweed. I'm glad we're still able to do this.

Ain't she just gorgeous? About 2 years, +/- and I finally get to try my hand at GSD pups. Probably gonna be too much, probably gonna wish I never said I'd do that but you know what? I'm gonna do it.

Much love you guys. Thank you.

I like your dog already and we haven't even met yet. I don't know if you know this but in my young adulthood, I became frightened by dogs. I would freeze if a dog in the neighborhood came at me, I would just let 'em stiff me without moving a muscle, never would I pet them.

It's weird I grew up with dogs, cats and even gerbils, never afraid just annoyed when the gerbil escaped and chewed my underwear or purse.

When my son called to tell me, he got a puppy Pitbull, I yelped NO! DON'T BRING
HIM TO FARM. I had this picture in my mind that they were attack dogs that ate children.

untitled.gif

Riley cured me of my aliment, now I love dogs again, and they love me too, I am the dog whisperer.

Looks like a muddy mess down there, welcome to my world.

Get yourself a pair of these.

IMG_0323.JPG

Notice the pink chickens, I know that's your favorite color.

Toodles

Well if it isn't Dorothy's big sister. How many times did she hear There's no place like home?

Good morning @farm-mom. I dropped you a message on Sweeds page but I'll repeat myself myself.

She was lucky to have you. I'm a pro with death Farm-Mom, I'm well aware nothing I say right here is perfect but I have a vague idea what you're going through. Your mother and sister and everyone else is proud of you.

Now where was I? <3

Muddy, yes. Atlas, yes. Riley, yes. = }

Put bulls are cool. German Shepherds are cool. They're all cool. Just like the person who says "my dog has anxiety, I need to medicate him" is incorrect. I don't think the pit bull is bad just as much as I don't think dogs have anxiety. I think everything is a direct reflection of the owner. If the dog's an asshole, the owner should probably schedule some psychiatric appointments. And the person who thinks their dog has anxiety should probably go pick up a prescription of Xanax... For their self!

Thank you for the reblog. And thanks for hanging out with me this a.m. Have a great weekend.

Yeah, "Welly's!"

!BEER

@eii much thanks. Enjoy your weekend.

You must be a good English teacher @dandays, had me chuckling again, so thank you!
It sure rained and rained to have made such a pretty lake!
Here on our side of the world, the weather's been doing some strange things.
We're now the proud grandparents... don't get excited now as we did when we were given the news...
We inherited our son's cat when he emigrated last month, so now have Poe living with us. He's the funniest cat ever, very curious when we walk around, and follows us just like a little puppy dog!
I've been very scarce around here, hope you and Pura are keeping well, have a lovely Sunday💖
PS bought a kayak yet?

That sounds like a cool cat. I had some cats growing up, about four I remember the most I guess. My favorite was Roscoe. He was such a good cat, a manx, didn't have a tail.

It's a lot easier teaching English to a puppy than it is a child. = }

Thanks for always being so nice. You sure are good at doing what you do.

It rained all day again yesterday. Like aalllll day. Just took Atlas out and, it's not raining, but the earth is soaked. The deck is soaked. Everything's soaked. There's gonna be more lakes today iThink.

PS bought a kayak yet?

Nah, I'm so over paying taxes. <3

Time flies. It's hard to believe she's 4 months old already, gorgeous girl :) It looks like she has been well taken care of :) Surely, she's going to be a good girl :)

Is it still winter there, so much water in the park :)

Winter, yes. Rain, rain, rain then snow for about a half day last week but then it was 72 F a few days later. The weather can't figure out what it wants to do. Slept with the windows open the other night and right now the heater is running. = }

Hello, Trangbaby. Thank you. I always get all heart emoji eyes when you're in my notifications.

Thank you. I've been trying to boost my content for a few months now to get you to stop by but have been unsuccessful.

Same with comments. I haven't been able to boost anyone's comment since last year some time. That seems to be a thing of the past. I even had a curator once tell me, "comments are not original content."

My points are being returned 100% of the time now when I attempt to boost a comment. Even when the comment is specifically regarding @ecency which is pretty embarrassing, by the way. That suggests the curator never even read the comment.

I was just returned another 150 points yesterday. Seems like maybe 1 or 2 out of 10'ish articles I'm trying to boost are being accepted while the rest are all being denied.

Did something with curation change? What am I missing?

Thank you for listening.

Maybe curators simply didn't get to review content on time, we have 24 hours deadline from boosting time. If curators have dozen content to review and cannot make it until deadline, refund issued automatically.
