For this Wednesday walk - we went to see the Sequoias. I've been waiting to show these pictures from when Sam was here. I had them back THEN to show! hahaha But then I got distracted with Sam being here - and didn't post! LOL So - forgive me Sir @tattoodjay! hehehe but here they finally are!
We went to Kings Canyon - and on this day - we had every possible weather imaginable! hahaha It was raining and sunny and sleeting and snowing and foggy!!!! The one good thing about a nice foggy day - is the INCREDIBLE light and smoky quality to the pictures. It's SO very pretty, and the colors seem to just POP!
You'll see some of the different weather as you scroll through the pictures!
But, let me just tell you at the start - the giant trees that you see are the world's largest trees. That doesn't mean tallest (though they are tall!) But they have the most MASS. Their trunk circumference is absolutely mind-boggling, and you cannot have a proper perspective of this tree unless you are standing RIGHT in front of it. Now - funny though it might seem, I actually do NOT have a picture of the LARGEST tree in the world in this collection of pictures. hahaha I took a picture of Sam standing next to it - and I think SHE posted pics! hahahaa But - Youll still see some pretty cool sights! So come along!
First off, we take a nice beautiful paved path towards the Sequoias. Though the General Sherman tree is the largest tree, there are LOTS of amazing Sequoias all around the park. These might look large in the picture - but they are NOTHING compared to the REALLY large ones. The largest ones are thousands of years old! I believe General Sherman is over 2200 years old! They eventually stop growing UP and just keep growing OUT. hehehe
Take a look at this... This is a Sequoia that has fallen on its side, and is hollowed out so that we can walk through. Now because of this perspective, it's hard to really see how large it is. But - don't worry - I'll show you what it looks like with three lovely people walking out from the other side! hehee
This was my perspective, as I was walking THROUGH, and getting closer to the light at the end of the tunnel - literally! hahaha Are you getting a sense now, of how big this tree is? See the steps carved into the ground? Yes.. very very big tree! hehe
Take a look at this magnificent thing!!!! Look at how DIFFERENT it looks from the other side when I'm walking out - and what is displayed on the OTHER side when you're looking back! Isn't that bark a glorious sight? Look at how it fans out so beautifully!!! And take a look at these three loves of mine - posing hehehe. That's @quirky.countess standing in front. @samsmith1971 coming out from the back, and @biggerjoe bending over because even though that tree is big- Joe is bigger. hahahahahahahahahahahahaha (well, at least RIGHT THERE in that exit hole! hahaha)
Here is another perspective where @biggerjoe isn't QUITE AS BIG as that tree to the right! LOL Those amazing hollowed out sections of the Sequoias are burn scars. When the wildfires go through the areas, through the ages - they eat up the outside of the bark and burn into the tree. The trees will usually continue to grow in spite of that! And the burn scars end up looking just as spectacular as the tree. Kind of a nice little place to get out of the rain too! hehehe (and if you're wondering... @biggerjoe is 6'8" LOL)
Just a pretty view of the trees looking like they are in their foggiest glory!!! I love the red bark and how it really is so vibrant when its in the misty grey fog!
Do you think he's a really big snowman??? or a little one? Hard to tell when you're looking at the picture this way... right? hehehe Well - take a look at the next picture and see!
hehehe - he's just a tiny little snowman! Only about 8 inches tall or so! I really would love for you to see our largest tree in the world - but.... how about I show it to you in person, so that will do it the proper justice! I'll be waiting for you to come visit! hehehehe

but then you get closer and closer and you're like - HOW MASSIVE IS THIS THING?!?!?! hahahahaha

Tomorrow I may do a short flow but will see my mood in the morning

but... seems like in the morning i get started with odd things. and i think - ok - right after lunch - when everyone goes back to work hehe
and then they go back - and i'm in the midst of something else LOL
i'm about to go for a nice walk now - heeheh

Well enjoy your walk, Supernatural is great but if the weather is nice and you can do walks outside then thats even better
Ps I did do a flow and one boxing this morning, both low as I dont want to over do it, but the fan seemed to helps no fogging at all, but then again I didnt do as much as normal so maybe it wouldnt have fogged without it
ahhhh no fogging?? you're tempting me!!!!! LOLOL
It's so cold in my living room right now - I want to go workout - but I know the fogging is going to irritate me quickly since its so cold hahahahaha
i'm really getting tempted to buy that fan today! LOL
Well I can’t say for sure I only did a couple of sessions flow for 20 minutes each and a short boxing one there was no fogging I think they would normally fog in that time but not 100% sure

yes they are native to only California hehehe
the Sequoias are massive - the largest by mass - and they are in central California.
but then the Redwoods are massive - the TALLEST - and they are on the coast, northern california - by the bay area. ehehehe went there before too and they are quite impressive. would love to show you someday too! hehehe

Oh my gosh! That's a magical place! The fog made it even more fascinating, it feels cool just by looking at the photos. And there's snow even then some sunshine! This is truly a wonderful walk with your beautiful family :)

Awwww - these are magnificent! The sequoias AND the photos - never again say you're not a shutterbug! How lucky you were to go there on a day with this different weather all at once. I loooove a good fog when I'm out taking photos and these trees and the fog - just marvelous.

The tree is very old and I can see it, so huge too. Most times, I have been awake to see the foggy day in my area and I love those whites coming out of it.

That tree is tall. Wasn't it scar too with the mass? Wow that tree is really huge and the show man, is he always there? You sure had fun in the woods or can I say tomorrow of sequoias. Biggerjoe is really very tall as well.

This was really a fantastic wednesdaywalk. I simply LOVE those trees and just had the thought, we should leace political guidance to those old trees, they are wiser than we humans are.

This is an awesome post @dreemsteem, and looks like someone's missing? Is jr taking some of the pictures? Yes, most of those look like Sequoia Sempervirens, or redwood trees; the other ones get massive at the base, the Sequoiadendron giganteum. Those are the giant sequoias, and I do wish you had the photo of General Sherman hahahahaha, but I can understand the tease hahahahahahaha!!!
The only time they look really massive is when you hold your huge chainsaw against one:

a huge powerhead with a 36" bar.
