Wednesday Walk in Vermont Pre-Fall Prep

in Wednesday Walk2 years ago

Here we are in Vermont preparing for Fall and Winter which follows quickly.
Even though fall has started, we don't really consider it fall until the leaves fully change into their full Fall splendor. Hence the term pre-Fall. The leaves are just starting to change in spots and patches. I just love waking up each morning for my walk with the dog and looking out to see the changes that happened each night, it's like a different new view each morning.

We have another week or three until the leaves get into their full glory, which will only last a couple weeks, then it's pretty quickly into the harsh, bleak winter season for a few months, seeing nothing but bare trees and white snow constantly. That too has it's own beauty, but different.

Anyway here's a preview of my walk in the light rain today and some of the yellow's, red's and orange colors we got to enjoy mixed with the dense green.

Gorgeous shots of the pre fall, I think you have more color there than us in MA, I amnot sure we will get great fall colors this year after thelong dry spell but I am hoping i am wrong and we get some nice colors

as you say it so beautiful but such a short time of peak colors

Thanks for joining Wednesday Walk :), I truly enjoy exploring the world virtually each Wednesday seeing walks from all around the globe and feeling I am there and experiencing it all myself, such as I did in your post just now :)

Nice garden, and very perfect shot

Freshness, coolness and peace. It is for this that it is worth going to nature to take a break from civilization.😊

Ou, you have a fold 4. And how do you like it? I had a fold 3, I moved from it to s22 ultra.

Yes, it's definitely great to disconnect now and again.

I've only had the fold 4 a couple weeks, so still getting used to it. It is very heavy compared to my previous pixel phone. Ok for me as I'm mostly at home, but I can see how many that are out and about a lot wouldn't like the weight. It's much nicer than carrying around a second tablet, which was my main reason of wanting the larger screen. Love the larger screen. Did not like the Samsung case, which stored the pen, but caused it to lay at an angle vs. tilted. I bought a different case with the pen now stored in the spine so it sits flat and like that much better.

Oh, I understand you. I took the 3rd fold for the same reason. And yes, at first I was also a little freaked out by its weight :) But then I got used to it, apparently you can use it as a dumbbell to pump up your hands haha :) With regards to accessories, I bought the cheapest Chinese silicone case for aliexpress, and a protective glass.

Haha, definitely true on the dumbbell usage lol. Since I got burned on the cheap Samsung case, I went for the more expensive SupCase this time and really like it. Besides the great spine pen storage, its got a nice kickstand that works either direction, and it lays flat enough to use the wireless charger (which the Samsung case did not).

The beauty view of the trees as they are gradually transforming into orange to welcome the fall reminds me of John Keats' poem titled "To Autumn". A poem with three eleven-line stanzas which he composed after taking a walk to Winchester, one autumnal evening.
To Autumn" describes, in its three stanzas, three different aspects of the season: its fruitfulness, its labour and its ultimate decline.

I hope to watch the pre fall transition to the fall through your walks.

Thanks for the view and comment. I'm looking forward to getting out for more photo sessions soon as it colors up even more. Especially looking forward to getting the drone out this year with pics from above!

Sweet Jesus, Kris! @ksteem That is so lovely! I have no color change yet, so the transitional beauty being shared is appreciated. The colors really pop, especially with the darker green surrounding it. I didn't realize your forest had an empty floor. Of course, that is my favorite, not having to fight the brambles.

Sounds like you are ready for the winter to visit.

I look forward to more of these colorful moments. Life is so beautiful when it is surrounded by nature.

Thanks for that. The areas of color are definitely expanding each day. I've been wanting to get the drone up for an early look but raining pretty much steady last three days.. Maybe this weekend will get up a bit.

Good eye on the forest floor, vast majority is definitely NOT that open. that's an area right next to the meadow which I think was mowed or at least brush-hogged the year before we moved in. It's definitely on the shady side of the hill, so gets a lot of ferns, but not much else. The majority of woods is very thick undergrowth, often difficult to walk through.

We are prepped for winter, but not quite "ready" lol. Definitely looking forward to the next several weeks of fall.

We cleaned out our underbrush in a summer home in Michigan. Not great for hunting but, but so much nicer to walk through. I like leaving plenty for Mother Natures' creatures but, I also like to enjoy a little bit of it. Are you going to clean some or do you prefer the thicker undergrowth?

I keep the meadow mowed pretty short, and I like to keep our trails fairly clear, but like you, prefer the rest nice and thick! Full of flowers, ferns, and fungi!
