It was a great surprise! Our very good friend, whom we have not seen in at least two years as life took us to different places of the world, sent us a Christmas greeting message with a photo. A photo of a landscape we know very well. The beach of a town, located just half an hour from our place was shown in the photo. It was a shock, how it can be possible?? He lives now in Switzerland, why he is sending us a photo from Spain?
We got in touch with him as fast as we could, sending several messages with questions and requesting to meet if he is here! And it happened indeed, the very next morning we met and the small meeting was converted into a whole day hanging out together. 12 hours of non-stop talking, walking and showing around different interesting places to them. Them, as he was not alone. Love knocked on his door and full happiness and shining are what I felt in their presence.
Memories and stories were shared while we were walking in the morning hours. After meeting at one place in the town of Altea, strolling a bit around and later climbing the path to the lighthouse of Albir (and back) we got hungry. The very tasty food in one of the restaurants gave us enough energy to continue to the next place we went. The town Villajoyosa is where we spent the afternoon and where these photos were taken. The sun was already taking some lower positions in the sky.
This town, Villajoyosa has a nice row of houses on the seashore. It is distinguished from other cities by this colourfulness as each house is painted a different colour. The legend says that it is painted in this way because of the fishermen coming home from the sea, to help them distinguish their home from a distance. Maybe it is true, but I can't tell you for sure. Legends are nice to share too.
What is true is that there is plenty of palm trees on the whole beach. It is a long, sandy beach, where children were still running around and some people were still in the water. It was a nice day, but I think it would be too cold for me to enter the water at the end of December.
After walking around the town, in the old centre too (no photos from there) we came back to the beach where our car was parked. The moon was already hanging on the dark sky, and on the horizon, the pink-orange colours reminded us of the great and sunny day we enjoyed in.
Before we went to their place to spend the last few hours together, we made a visit to a chocolate shop. Full of people. Too much noise. One waiter. But the waiting time paid off as the cup of hot chocolate and "churros" were excellent. Too bad that it is not so good to take it in the evening, I woke up at 4 am not feeling very well. I think my stomach can't digest it easily.
Very good vibes connected all of us and the time flew away. Late in the evening, we spent a few more hours at their place, talked to our friend who is an artist about Hive and onboarded him. Hurray! I hope he will feel encouraged to write his first post, somewhere soon, but you know, it is not that easy to explain and understand everything in just a few hours. Fingers crossed that we will see him soon here!
An unexpected meeting, a wonderful day, wonderful company and wonderful places and nature... And of course wonderful chocolate! Thanks a lot ❤️

The legend is one I am familiar with. They use the same one in the Dutch Antilles, the Leeward Islands a small one called Curaçao. All the houses are painted in different colors and in the same style. It was where I first heard the legend. It still sounds feasible!

They came just for a few days, for vacation. They live right now in Switzerland, but what a nice surprise they gave us. Actually they didn't know that their accomodation would be that close to us. Just wonderful things 🥰

Well, I think that churros are just past for me and other "heavy" stuff. I just got some medication from the dr. let's see if it helps. I started to feel discomfort in my stomach already some weeks ago, work & food combo.

Apart from the purpose of identifying quickly the town by the fishermen, I think the different color painting of those houses made the place beautiful and lovely. That is the wonder works of colors actually, only if you know how to mix them right:)
