Wednesday Walk - Visiting Opol Fish Port Where I used to Bathe in The Sea

in Wednesday Walklast year (edited)

I planned to visit the fish port here because I haven't been there for a long time. First because of the virus that is spreading or better known as covid-19. Because I can't walk far from us. And my second reason is that I am busy with my studies. Since covid-19 spread and the online class started, I was a busy student and I didn't have time for outdoor activities especially walking because of the covid then and also now but not much anymore as bad as it used to be or when it just started spreading around the world.

Here I am walking towards my destination. During my walk I noticed that the road was very quiet and there were not many people outside. Usually there are many people and the road here is fun every time you walk, day or night. As I was walking I thought of buying a snack, I was right and I had money in my pocket and the money I was carrying was 50 pesos or $1.

What I bought is a cornetto, it's an ice cream that's already in an ice cream cone and the flavor I chose is chocolate because I love chocolate flavor when it comes to ice cream. The other one I bought was banana cake and this one I don't know what the name is. It was only on display at the bakeshop where I bought it and they didn't put a name on it, so I don't know what the name of this bread is.

And after I went to the bakeshop, I went straight to the fish port. And when I entered I suddenly smiled and saw a big change in our fish port. I saw children playing badminton in a spacious space. We used to not be able to do that because the fish port was not this big before. In the part where there are children playing, it has not been paved before, the sea is still there. And on that side, other small boats dock there. When they catch fish, they go straight there because it's closer to the fish buyers.

I continued walking and I positioned myself at the side of the boat dock and slowly ate the snacks I bought. Those are the only snacks I bought because I went to the fish port by myself and I didn't have anyone else with me. While I was eating my purchased snacks, I was amazed at the beauty of the place and the change of the fish port here. The boats, small and big, are organized. It's not as usual that the boats are really crowded here at the fish port.

I forgot tell you that there are four types of boats here. The big one will go to the far part of the sea and catch fish with a wide and long net. The small ones also get thinner and they join the big boats because they carry fish finders and lights so that the fish can take shelter there and then the big boat will catch them. The little one will not go too far from the beach. This small boat only puts a net at night or maybe they will put a fishing line like a fishing line with a fishing hook and the next day they will take it to collect their caught fish. The smallest one, like my dad does, is just like a small boat that only uses fishing line and fishing hook to catch fish.

Missing the fish port memories is a feeling that is hard to describe. The smell of salt water mixed with the sound of boats coming in and out of port is something that will always stick with me. The fish port was not just a place to buy fresh fish, but it was a community of fishermen, merchants and tourists coming together. I loved watching the boats come in with their catch and then seeing the fish being sold at the market. The bargaining and haggling over the price of the fish was always entertaining. I also miss the early morning walks along the fish port, watching the sunrise and feeling the sea breeze on my face. The fish port memories will always be dear to my heart.

The last part of this visit was to see the beautiful moon showing up early with a very nice pinky sky.

The moon in the pink clouds is a captivating and mesmerizing sight. The glowing orb of the moon shining through the delicate pink clouds creates a breathtakingly beautiful contrast. It is a peaceful and calming scene that instantly captures the attention of anyone who sees it.

Thank you for coming and for reading my blog. Till my next post!

Thanks for joining the Wednesday, its always fun for me to visit the walks from all around the world, getting a feel for communities where people live and what they see on their daily walks

It's a pleasure. I've been searching for a community for this post and lucky I found this community Wednesday Walk. I'll do walk post here everytime I create one.

Greta but can I ask you only use the community or the tag once a week

Just simply taking a short walk takes us off from our chattering minds and is such a nice stress reliever! When I visit the local port, what makes me happy are seeing the children having fun and just being carefree. Then like you said the fishermen hauling in their catch! I enjoy seeing those big fishes they were able to get.

I agree with you, maam. Those kids reminds me of my childhood memories in that fish port.
