Morning at Dolphin Cove

in Wednesday Walk2 years ago

Ah, heaven! For the last four days we have been staying with family at a house at Tura Beach, on NSW's stunning south coast. It's a smaller town that's not as touristy as some, very peaceful and quiet, and a five minute walk downhill to the stunning Dolphin Cove. To get there, one walks along the edge of the forest and large houses overlooking the sea.

Many of these houses have telescopes to spy whales - we could even see them from our rental, flipping out of the water. How nice it must be to have these sea views all the time!

Miraculously, I got the hubs out of bed early too. I've been going down at dawn every morning with my brother in law, who is also an early riser.

The walk takes you to the clifftops through a magic grove of tea tree. From here I could see my parents walking along the beach. Dad's been struggling with his health so he can only do short walks before being exhausted. I really feel for him.

There was a tiny tiny wave coming through so we ran back up to the house to grab our boards and hang out on the beach for a while.

The water was cold but refreshing and we stayed out for hours.

My nephew's went spearfishing off the rocks. No fish, but they did get a few abalone, which we cooked up later with butter and garlic.

By the time we got back to the house it was only 10 am. Crazy how getting up early can really make the most of your day. We are getting lots of rest too and a lot of reading and dozing in the sunshine. Very much needed!

I'll definitely have a few Wednesday Walk blogs for you in the next few weeks. Not as many as I would have liked but we are quite proud of ourselves for not doing much and just enjoying chilling and being with family in such a beautiful spot.

I wish there was more surf but at least I've had a lot of ocean time. We even lost count of the amount of 🐋 whales we saw breaching, as well as seals and sea eagles which was pretty amazing.

I really loved Dolphin Cove and hope we can get the family back next September!

Oh wow that's so dope! Yeah waking up early, is a must for a parent, and non parent too haha. The only problem is passing out at 9 😁 how were the waves?

Haha I call passing out at 9 a reverse sleep in!

Not much swell but on the SUPs you can ride anything really. Still fun and beautiful to be in water!

What a beautiful beach indeed! It's seriously a magical place, I imagine you had a wonderful time. It would have been great to see the whales hehe, I would be a little scared to do that! Beautiful pictures, amazing hike. 😃🙏👌

Oh the whales 🐋🐋 were just magical!

Been visiting beach too since I went home for a vacation. And all I could see most of the times are trees and sea😆.

I like the ambiance in magic grooves tree! Indeed looks magical!

Whales? Haven't seen that in my recent escapades, just starfish and crabs...

That’s nice that you guys are spending some time with the family close to such a wonderful beach…
Truly time to relax a bit.
And it does make a difference getting up early.
Great views… I’m so looking forward to the other posts 😉😎

Sooooo beautiful!

Oh my how stunning the beach is!

I lived in Da Nang Vietnam for 2 years and went to the beach everyday. I started to get addicted to checking out the beaches everywhere I go!

I'll be there one day!
I love it when you say:

Crazy how getting up early can really make the most of your day

So true! 😂

Oh Da Nang is lovely, a bit warmer than our beaches here! I bet you miss it!

Everywhere is good when we are with our family. You have also make good memories.

Such a wonder beach it is and day you spent. Seeing whales through telescope or jumping out of water couldn't get more better or amazing place.

Good wishes for your Dad. Hope he'll Get more healthy and fully fit.

Amazing clicks and more memorable moments to come.

Have fun and Great day ahead. Much !LUV and blessings.

We loved seeing so many whales! 🐋🐋🐋🐋🐋🐋🐋🐋🐋🐋🐋🐋🐋🐋🐋🐋🐋🐋🐋🐋🐋🐋🐋🐋🐋🐋

Awesome place. If you are only taking short walks, I'm sure your Dad loves taking them on that beach 👍 Glad you are having some rest and quality time with family. Seems the beach forces you to slow down and chill...maybe thats why people are drawn to them.

Dad DID love his short walks but he was a bit upset he couldn't use the time to get fit. He was always an active man so it's hard for him. I hope they sort it out soon.

What a divine place! Everything seems so beautiful and preserved, it's a pleasure to see this from France and Paris where we feel winter fast approaching 😱 in truth, I love this season ^^

Thanks you for sharing those views, and indeed, I completely understand your need to disconnect a bit being there !

Crazy how getting up early can really make the most of your day.

I'm always amazed by that, but I should do it more often too haha !

Enjoy the family times, I wish you the best !

I've missed a couple of your great posts and I'm sorry! Hopefully another week and this marking job will be over and I can catch up with my friends....

Oh ! no problem, this is one of the sweet and nice aspects about Hive, it’s that we can always catch a bit after - for posts or others interactions :) ! Courage about this working week, but hopefully, I hope you have a free weekend before that !

Looks awesome. I miss Australia :(

Oh darling I bet you do. Any plans to come back? Are you still in Portugal?

In Portugal again. Have been to South Africa and back home in the meantime. Will spend winter here and then we will see. Would love to come next year.

I always loved this kind of places which are not so popular of tourists just because you get to admire a destination in its own beauty and wilderness! It must be such a unique experience seeing the whales. In the country I'm living I've never seen even dolphins. 🥺
