Wednesday Walk: Whalehead Viewpoint Hike

in Wednesday Walklast year (edited)

We went on this beautiful hike while we were on the Oregon Coast during my Christmas Break in December.

The Oregon Coast is amazing how it has trees right next to the ocean!

This hike gets a 8/10

2Access to trailA great big parking lot right by the trail head
1DifficultyPretty easy 2.4 mi (3.86243km), with a steep (and for us muddy) incline, 59 ft (17.9 m)

2DestinationThe drop down onto the beach was great
1Time on trial37 minutes, It was a much shorter hike than I was wanting or expecting

It rains a lot in Oregon so I think this trail would often be very muddy like it was for us. If you are looking for a really short hike this is great. I think it would also be fun to take a picnic down to the beach.

Let's go!

The beginning of this hike was very reminiscent of the Redwood Forest hike we did a few days earlier, lots of moss and ferns.

Then the trail dropped right down on to the beach.

A little of the climb back up

and the view from the parking lot.

When we went a couple of years ago we did the Indian Sands Hike. Here is that post. It is a great hike and a bit longer than this one.

WOW what a hike, in such a gorgeous area

I felt like I was there with you viewing the photos

Thanks for joining the Wednesday, its always fun for me to visit the walks from all around the world, getting a feel for communities where people live and what they see on their daily walks

Thanks Jay! It really is a gorgeous area!

👍🙂👍

Eye catching and treat to watch !!!
Wonderful place. Thanks for sharing with us. It refreshes my day.

You are welcome, glad you enjoyed it too.

Ah yes I've there once before, I love the little tide pools and how the trees are all draped with moss.

The trees covered in moss were the most interesting to me, coming from the desert of Arizona! It was fascinating.

Yeah I focused on those too. Most of that moss is medicinal too.

Beautiful presentation of an admirable location!
I love the "Sara's Rating" :)

Ha ha thanks Stefanos. I like when others do it and it helps me remember what I thought about the hike in more detail when I looks back at the posts.
