Wednesday Walk - Through the Forest and the Dunes

Here is a hike to the beach through a thick forest for this #wednesdaywalk by @tattoodjay

This is a lookout trail in Sleeping Bear Dunes National Park in Michigan. This trail is high up above some giant dunes and you can see quite far out in Lake Michigan.

Here's a panorama from the lookout where you can see a huge dune on the right. There is a beach there as well where you can take a steep walk down to the beach as well. It might be easier to sled down it though lol.

Here is a view from a different trail called pyramid point where you can see one of the islands on Lake Michigan. This one is way too steep to walk down and they have warning signs on paying a huge fine if someone has to go there to rescue you off the sandy cliff.

Now its time to head down to the beach, this is just another view of the dunes from within the forest pathway.

Along the way we noticed signs of fall starting already. I wonder if the whole forest will change all at once this year and be visible from space like it was last year?

There is a river that runs near the trail. Sometimes you can see river otters here but as usual I didn't end up seeing any. I only saw one scurry across the trail way off in the distance for a couple seconds.

The trees changed to evergreens and the forest floor got covered in ferns lower down.

This patch was looking quite green.

At the lower elevation on the trail they are already starting to dry out for fall.

This open field of ferns is quite orange already. In fall they turn really bright orange and complement the evergreens nicely.

This was a swampy marsh area with moss and grass growing over the boggy areas. I'll be posting more from here for #fungifriday as this environment is great for mushrooms.

Finally we made it down to the beach but unfortunately is was way too dangerous to swim with the waves creating rip tides. All we could do is wade out chest deep and get hit by the waves to cool down. Later in the day we found a cove beach that was shielded by the waves where we could actually swim.

That's all for now, thanks for looking :-)

Sleeping Bear Dunes National Park in Michigan, which you show is a beauty dear @sketch.and.jam , it is very beautiful, thank you for showing us such beauty. From Venezuela I wish you much success, in such a beautiful publication.

It is really nice up there right now anyway. During the winter it still looks beautiful but in a very cold sort of way lol.

Here in Cumaná, Sucre state in Venezuela, in front of the Caribbean Sea, we are very hot and for such beautiful plantations to grow, a less warm climate is required, in any case what we do have are beautiful palm groves. Your site would be splendid to do my yoga practices, I hope you make me visit my publications and propose ideas. I wish you many successes.

I saw some people doing yoga on the beach here too.

How good
@sketch.and.jam espero is encouraged to do Yoga, for health they are very good practices. Successes in your publications

What diverse sceneries in the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Park in Michigan. There is a sea that is perfect for those who love sea sight and forestry and who love to immerse themselves in the forest and plants. I believe this is a perfect place for a Wednesday walk.

I wonder if it's allowed to swim in there since it is a park. The color of the water is nice though, an aquamarine. Thus, the wave is not too strong. This is such a wonderful experience. Have some !PIZZA

Swimming is allowed but the waves there when strong have a rip tide effect that can cause you to get caught in an endless roll underwater.

PIZZA!

Wow what a hike! Michigan huh? Who knew!
Awesome shots too, I'm starring this place on my map in case I'm ever in the area.

Northern Michigan is amazing same with the little part that stretches out over Wisconsin.

Yay! 🤗

A beautiful walk the scenic views pretty impressive
Nice to see some fall colors appearing not sure after the long dry spell we had here what we will get this year

Good to be cautious of rip tides they can be so dangerous

Thanks for joining Wednesday Walk :), I truly enjoy exploring the world virtually each Wednesday seeing walks from all around the globe and feeling I am there and experiencing it all myself, such as I did in your post just now :)

One of these days I'll make it up there on a good fall color year where it all changes at once. I could actually feel the undertow from the rip tides as I walked out, the top layer pushes you out and the lower layer of water pulls you in so if you get caught underwater midway it can easily drown someone who doesn't know how to break the roll.

That would be cool to do

I worked as a lifeguard for a couple of seasons so both trained on rips and rescued people caught in them

Even knowing what your doing can be scary

Cool views of the lake. Really fun to see the environment change as you hike. I can't help but compare to my little world here. Very similar, mixed forest, ferns on fringe and in clearings, streams, lake. Whats the weather like there? must be some warmer. Cold and rainy here. 60s. Low going down into the 40s tonight.

The upper peninsula has pretty much the same weather and it gets horribly cold in the winter with people ice fishing in the lakes. While I was there the weather swung from 79 down to 40 at night.

Wow, brilliant change of color already. Spectacular photos.#s 6, 7 and 11 look as through they could have been taken in upstate NY, Hudson River Valley. That's especially true for #6. It looks so familiar, and I've never been to Michigan :)

I have quite a few more leaf color photos, probably by end of month it will be quite colorful up there.
