I started my walk from the monument to Emperor Peter the Great. The author of this monument is Bartolomeo Rastrelli. I paid special attention to the two bas-reliefs that decorate the sides of the pedestal.

Some details of these bas-reliefs were shining, many hands touched them during the day. There is a legend that touching these bas-reliefs can help in a difficult life situation.

In the foreground of the bas-relief "Battle of Gangut" depicts a rescued sailor, his comrades are helping him to get into the boat. You have to touch this sailor to avoid drowning, literally or figuratively. This is a place of pilgrimage for students who are afraid of "drowning" in exams.

From the monument to Peter the Great I walked out onto the Fontanka River embankment. I made it as far as the Engineering Bridge. The lattice of the bridge is decorated with shields depicting the head of Medusa Gorgon.

All these people on the bridge are looking at the monument. Only it's not as big and well visible monument as the previous one. To see this monument, you have to wait until someone makes room at the parapet and look down.

There is a small bronze bird, a siskin. It, too, is capable of bringing good luck. Passers-by throw coins to this sculpture, but it is very difficult to get to the small platform, almost all the coins fall down to the bottom of the Fontanka River.

The next bridge is called Panteleimon's Bridge, the name of the bridge comes from the nearby church in the name of St. Panteleimon the Healer. I really like the lanterns on this bridge.
