Walk to Virje and Boka waterfalls in Soca Valley, Slovenia

Hello, dear Hive people!

Because you liked the last waterfall so much, we decided that this #Wednesdaywalk, we take you even to two more waterfalls!

To get the best images, we like to take them in the early morning, when the nature just wakes up and sun rises.

Without much preparation, but the good and healthy breakfast, we left home towards Bovec, located in the close border to Italy, here in Slovenia. The morning was very beautiful, because the clouds were sitting in the trees and the sun was shining onto the mountain tops.

The first stop was the waterfall Virje, located 2 kilometers out of Bovec in Plužna village. There is a parking spot nearby, so you don't need to walk a lot to reach. However, there are plenty of hiking paths you can take if you like to explore this area on foot.

The waterfall itself is not so high, but instead is widely spread along big rock. The color of the pool is emerald green and in summer it's a perfect refreshment for the visitors. Don't get too excited as the water is always freezing cold and not for everyone. The surrounding is nicely organized with wooden benches and chairs for sunbathing.

In spring time when the snow is melting on Kanin mountain, the stream is so strong that you cannot even be near the waterfall without getting completely wet.

For brunch and the second coffee, we headed to the only shop there is in Bovec. Due to fully touristic town, the prices there are extremely expensive. Even if you don't worry about the money, you will be surprised - the capital is much cheaper compared to that.

Excited to see the next waterfall, we headed forward. This waterfall is on halfway from Bovec to Kobarid, near a village called Žaga.

The waterfall is seen from far away, as it's very water-rich. It's 106 meter high and 18 meters wide. In spring, the flow can reach even 100 m³/s! It's amazing! It's a karst spring, which means that the water comes directly out of the rock face via a cave and then runs down the cliff.

By the road you will see the parking spot, from there a 10-minute walk will guide you to the viewpoint.

If you want to see the majestic waterfall more closely, you can continue from the viewpoint up and behind the hill for an even better view.

You can't go directly under the waterfall as it's located in a canyon-like environment. And honestly, there is nothing to see besides rocks and stone walls behind.

We really recommend visiting, but take time to explore and hike all around - don't take only pictures from the road as majority of the tourists. 🙃

Yes, it's very cool spending some quality time outside 🌻
Thank you! That's very nice to hear 💫🙏
Wish you a nice day!

The river is my favorite body of water. There's just something mystic about rivers that make me gravitate to them:)))

Oh that would have been so much fun to go hiking in amongst such raw beauty!

And refreshing too.

You are wearing a Jacket, so it looks like it was cold there too!

Thanks for taking me to see the colour of that water in the pool.
That stunning aquamarine colour is certainly a sight for sore eyes!

I look forward to seeing more of stunning Slovenia from you soon!

Of course we will try to make some winter hiking and sharing photos and storys ❄️

Here in the Alps is currently around 0°C in the mornings, so the jacket is quite needed.

Glad that you liked our post and photos! 🌻
We try to share our stories as authentic as we can 💛

Have a good evening!

Well whilst you're in winter hiking the Alps, I will hike some trails here in summer Australia- as soon as it warms up!

I look forward to your videos.

I'm also a doco maker too... and have been on a working holiday for the past 3 weeks and shot about 7k stills and about 25 interviews for a few different projects so I have lots of material to process! chocolatescorpion.com
