About losing one's identity during vulnerable times.

We all have our most vulnerable times at one point in life and the worst thing that could happen is losing one's identity. Losing who you are, what you want, what you have worked for. That thing that took you a lot of years to fill in now becomes empty.

The deathbed becomes a passageway to a new life without a vision.

Personal commentary

After a few weeks of working on this, I am finally done! I've tried new things while working on this one, such as using a solvent to achieve those drip-effect. I've always wanted to do that, but as you know, solvents have toxic fumes and I don't have a studio to do it safely as of now. So I had to go somewhere open to use the solvents and just bring it back again inside my room when I'm painting using linseed oil again. It's tiresome but worth it.

This painting has another deeper meaning to me, though I want it to be as relatable to everyone else as possible. Not everyone has been hospitalized for sure or has been admitted that it left a big impact on them, but I want this to become a symbol for our weak state... in which I know everyone has been to.

I am happy with the result and I am proud to share this. It's pretty amazing to see how much I've grown since I've been a part of this community and I am grateful for the criticisms, admirations, and support that I have received for the past few years. Hive is awesome. :P

Fantastic artwork! I love reading about the inspiration for it when I saw it on the community page it immediately called my attention.

When someone close dies it's painful, but there's a release in death, and the peace it brings should put things in perspective.

Thanks for sharing!

Thank you! :D

You are so talented! So you paint with oil, that looks totally different when I compare it with acryl on canvas paintings. I have to say, I love your style! Those spirits around the person are nice, especially with the different colors.
Loving the details in the painting, curious to see what else you made, will scroll through your older work later as well :)

Yeah it is so different and I can even see the big difference when I use acrylic compared to oils. It almost seemed like it was made by a different person lol. Thank you!

It's always beautiful when something inspires an artwork you know? I'm familiar will the scenario that you've painted here, and it's a beautifully done piece if you ask me. You chose the colours carefully and well it paid off eventually. Wow

Thank you for always leaving comments on my works. 😊 Did it happen to yourself as well? Or did you see it on someone else?

You're welcome, well it happened to someone I knew and looking at the oil canvas it brought really synonymous memories, it's indeed lovely work

Great artwork. You have a good skill and hadwork always pays off.

Thank you! I definitely agree with that. 🙌🏻

There are many meanings to this work!
Great job dear! <3

Miraculous work of Art. I am your number one fan now. Sana matapos na ang crisis sa pinas para makita ko inpersonal mga art work nyu po Miss.

Salamat! Oo nga eh sana matapos na para may mga exhibits ulit :/

Love what you have done with it! Being in a hospital sucks and there is a feeling of desolation and helplessness that really puts a pressure on your mind. You captured it well in here

So true. I've been to hospitals a lot of times when I was a kid and that is how I felt too. Thank you! <3

I experienced more hospital times when I became an adult and it terrified me, I can only imagine how it must be if you're a kid. Glad you can overcome that😊

Yeah I can relate to this, we all can. So tired of it.

Your painting is starting to remind me of the dissociative art brut paintings that the Dissociative Identity Disorder artist, Kim Noble paints when she is in one of her alter personalities.

Disturbing!

Ah yeah I've seen one of the videos about her once and I wasn't able to write down her name, thanks for reminding me of her name!

I don't have DID, but I also explore those areas and I do see that in some of my works as well. In fact, when I shared this work on Reddit, some interpreted it as having DID. These topics interest me as well, proves that the human mind is really complex.

It is tiring indeed (losing identity). Hope you pick up the energy to start finding yourself again soon.

that's very sweet of you to say. Thank you.

I love Kim Noble's art, her other alters do artwork which is so different to her most commonly known childhood trauma brightly coloured ones.

I love the painting you shared above, some of the facial expressions made me chuckle!

This hits hard everytime I revisit it. Your art is so powerful yet incredibly vulnerable! God knows I've been on that identity deathbed a couple too many times. Cheers to many more years of your creations 🥂

Thank you so much for the kind words! Wow, you scrolled that much to revisit haha.

God knows I've been on that identity deathbed a couple too many times.

I hope you're okay now. We may be there couple times but we have to get up and be better. Only option is to move forward! :>

Hola amigo. Octavio Paz algo asi dijo, la poesia esta muy ligada a sentimientos que se expresan por diferentes medios y siguen siendo poesias sin tiempo. Felicitaciones

Good you have been getting continuous support from @ocd and @ocdb ,not all artists get that on this chain. Personally I tried and brought someone on this chain ( in fact in steem) and then the chain could not give enough support to him and he stopped coming. Now again I have convinced him to start over hive, lets see how the chain / curators rewards good artists / content creators.

Curators are looking for content from authors 24/7 (not just ocd). In order for an author to get curated, he needs to make an effort to engage, reach out and get his content seen as well. If he /she just posts content and just magically expects someone to curate it while he is sleeping then it doesn’t work that way. It’s similar with how you’re going to make efforts to get your content on facebook/instagram/twitter be seen.

Not all artists get involved and do other things to help the chain either through curation, abuse reporting, engagement, etc. Curation is much better ever since the EIP and communities, though, so if artists aren't being seen they must really not be trying much.

Not all artists get involved and do other things to help the chain either through curation, abuse reporting, engagement, etc.

Is that the new norm for getting curated by @ocd ?

I have reconvinced my nephew @gremayo (HP 404) after two years of absence on Steemit to go back to the platform under Hive and that is what he did, set up his re-introductory post 9 days ago on Hive and added a tutorial on colored pencil drawing which he did two years back. He used to make digital tutorials back then and had been curated by @curie more than once.
His recent re-introductory post got a reward of about 105 Hives that included OCD´s curation. In my opinion, the art work he posted was perfect in his own efforts but then it was downvoted by some whales and in the end got only 66.85 Hives which is closed to half of the reward gone. When he saw other artists´s works compared to his, he is under the impression that if you do not have connections to some whales above, you won´t make it here.,... he, @gremayo is now frustrated and has been rethinking whether to push through on Hive at all. If you would have the time, please go and see the post here. and we would like to hear your opinion.... Thanks in advance.

Wow. He is even lucky we curated his works DESPITE KNOWING THE FACT THAT IT WAS JUST A REPOST AND THAT IT WAS ALREADY WELL REWARDED 2 YEARS AGO ON STEEM.

HE SAID THAT IT WAS A REPOST IN HIS POSTING.....SO IF YOU KNEW THAT IT WAS A REPOST, WHY DID OCD CURATE IT AT ALL??? HE JUST CAME BACK AFTER TWO YEARS WITH 300 HP AND YOU... AS AN ESTABLISHED ARTIST AND A CURATOR AS WELL.... INSTEAD OF GIVING HIM SOME TIPS ON HOW TO GO ABOUT REPOSTING, YOUR WORDS WERE EVEN INSULTING! WELL MAYBE HE HAS NOT READ PROPER INSTRUCTIONS..... DIDN´T KNOW THE NEW RULES YET, HE JUST CAME BACK TO THE PLATFORM! IS THAT THE WAY TO TREAT YOUR KABABAYAN ???

SO IF YOU KNEW THAT IT WAS A REPOST, WHY DID OCD CURATE IT AT ALL???

Exactly what I was saying??? Because we wanted to give him a chance??

INSTEAD OF GIVING HIM SOME TIPS ON HOW TO GO ABOUT REPOSTING

I am a very busy woman and I expect him to know things about the platform literally because I know he is your nephew even before mentioning that in this comment.

YOUR WORDS WERE EVEN INSULTING!

Just look at your comment above and try to check who is more insulting here.

IS THAT THE WAY TO TREAT YOUR KABABAYAN ???

I don't give a shit about someone's nationality because I'm not a racist. Knowing that he is your nephew I expected you're the one who should guide him. And common sense will tell you you need to engage with the community and make efforts to know about the platform.

Whales have all the right to downvote whoever they want, the same with how we upvote whoever we want. Instead of being grateful for the votes he received on recycled posts, he had the audacity to say that?

Yeah, but the post did not only include the repost of his drawing, it has an introductory post... the step by step was just to show how he works on his drawing... If you found it was not worth it, then you could have just said something. I read about your comment on his last repost... When he asked you to please give him the link of Showcase Sunday,, you didn´t even bother to answer... And yes, here is another NEW post of his on the first days he came back to Hive.

Yep I know. And he should be really grateful for the $60 rewards he got for an intro post and a repost. If you noticed, he is earning WAY WAY more than the other artists in here. He is SO lucky to get those rewards.

When he asked you to please give him the link of Showcase Sunday,, yu didn´t even bothered to answer...

I was (personally) insulted only because he just came back after the pump and just reposting content from Steem constantly without contributing new content.

When he asked you to please give him the link of Showcase Sunday,, yu didn´t even bothered to answer...

I told you, I am always busy and don't have the time to reply to all comments. If he really want it, he will make an effort to know the answer. He could've asked in Discord servers or just a simple search in the search tab he will find that. Authors need to do the effort and not just post and magically expect people to curate.

They are having a strict lockdown in his place so he couldn´t get any work assignments from his studio. If there is no quarantine, he will not be able to come back to the platform because he lacks the time.. Confinement at home gave him time to engage on Hive and that was the time when Hive had a fork from Steemit.

Dude just left Steem 2 years ago and came back after Hive pump. Then he came back only reposting MOST of his works from Steem. Don’t you think it’s an insult? Yet we never said anything about that cos we want to encourage him to keep posting and hopefully see new works from him, that is why WE curated his works. Why would you even compare yourself to the artists WHO STAYED HERE FOR A LONG TIME AND DID A LOT OF STUFF TO IMPROVE THE PLATFORM? I’m all up to supporting authors but please stop complaining about those. Thanks for telling that straight to my face anyway.

Well, he left Steem because of his job... he has to earn his living. Not everyone is capable of posting everyday when you have a job. He did a new post in the beginning, but he has to adjust himself to the new platform. I know that you are one of the most engaging curators here, but somehow be compassionate to newbies who are trying to make a comback... and besides, if he is well rewarded during his steemit times, that is because he paid those bidbots in order for his work to get noticed by the public. So, where are those curators who were curating good contents?!

Yeah, and that is totally understandable. We don't expect anyone to be here through thick and thin.

but somehow be compassionate to newbies who are trying to make a comback..

I am. Maybe go look at my comments on how I help even the newbies here and you'll see.

So, where are those curators who were curating good contents?!

UUHHH...... I was the reason why his post got to trending?

Oh really?! Well THANK YOU SO MUCH! It was not trending anymore because it was downvoted.

Since you have been here the long time, please do the honors of explaining those to your nephew.

Oh yeah, I will surely do that.. salamat sa reminder mo!

With all due respect, the reason I was negative and short with my comment to the other person above me was because this kind of complaining doesn't belong here. Neither you nor him even commented on this artwork but went on to complain about lack of curation and a downvote that no one here can control. If him coming back and sharing his artwork and instantly comparing with other artists to re-consider staying on Hive after being welcomed is not enough then good riddance. This is really disrespectful to the artist here who also happens to be a curator which is the reason to many artists like your nephew being curated in the first place. Your "thanks in advance" tone is not nice, as if we owe him or you anything. Go ask @likwid next time why the downvote.

Well, I am sorry if I caused some interaction here...I know I stepped-over her post but I was simply adding to the thread of the person above you because the topic was about curation. And yeah, that would be interesting to know the reason for the downvote but we as users wouldn´t find out anyway. We normally say "thanks in advance" if we were asking a favor from someone that is why I said "Please" in the beginning of the sentence followed by "if you have the time", it was not an insult.

Awesome work! Thanks for sharing in OCA :)

Thank you, OCA is awesome! And thanks for the tip <3

Very nice work

Thanks!

A very nice job. Hats off to the artist. This representation is unfortunately very close to reality with this character on his bed and the ghosts of the dead around him.

This is beautiful!
