What a time to be an artist. Something like a decade ago, I really started to take my 3D art more seriously, coming from the background of being a professional 2D illustrator. It was definitely partly driven by my thinking that I could expand my list of clients with that sort of work, but really, I just enjoyed it. 90% of the content I would make literally had no market value(or at least I thought). I just did it because it was fun and interesting, and I enjoyed making it. You can go back through my blog and see something like 300 pieces of me just screwing around inside Cinema 4D and Octane.
Fast forward to the present and this content I was making for fun is now selling for good money. I'm still in a bit of shock. The last piece, "Watermelon Slices" is currently set to expire it's auction in a few hours and the high bid is 2 ETH($805) Crazy times.
So this is the last piece in this series. It's been an amazing run and I'm excited for the next thing I come up with. I get now why artists do series of work. Coming up with a concept is hard lol, so when you get one, spread it out over a few pieces, helps you produce more.
These pieces have also sparked some interesting debate/chats about what is and isn't NSFW, what is and isn't erotic. I'm seeing that it's something that people have pretty dramatically different opinions on and I guess that makes sense considering the wildly varied views of nudity, sex, and what is acceptable to different people and cultures.
The short version of my stance on this is that nudity in and of itself is not erotic or sexual. The idea that a female body, simply existing in its natural state is something that people need to be shielded from is...well to put it mildly, something I strongly disagree with. Maybe it's just because I'm an artist, but I don't know, I only have lived my life, and I can only express what I believe so there it is.

I think it depends on the community really. Nudity and sexual action, and autonomy are so interwoven that maybe there is some need for prohibition or boundaries, especially if, for example, online spaces are shared between children and adults.
