My First attempt on Watercolor..... "GreenOranges".

in OnChainArt4 years ago

Hey World,
I finally found my way around my new art materials today. I bought a Derwent watercolor pencils set last week, and for the first time yesterday, I wanted to try it out but it didn't go well, I've not been using watercolors, and I never knew the pencils would just be like using a normal watercolor set or perhaps one can use the pencils to sketch alone.

I had to go see some videos on YouTube before I could understand how to utilize the Derwent watercolor pencils I bought. Instead of just drawing with the pencils, I had to use my wet brush to pick up colours from the pencils led, and my final result isn't that bad as to consider the fact that it's my first time with watercolor.

The above picture is the Derwent watercolor pencils set I bought for about $25 last week and which is what used the achieve the painting we can see above.

Great start
Nice work
& Welcome to the club 🙂

Thanks. I just checked your blog, you've got some dope paintings. Do you do hotpress or coldpress papers?

Thank you 🙂

I don't use hot press paper yet.. they are so expensive and I don't think I should put my money in that... I'm not selling paintings nor I don't think I'm there at that level. Hot press is more for Portrait or botanical paintings... Somewhere you need to do lot of fine details. 😁

Cold press, I have worked on I love the Arto cotton papers I buy that often it's not that expensive

Right now I am a fan of these rough handmade papers from Chitrapat. They give good lifting support and has nice texture. This painting is on their matte versionvwhich has a texture replicating canvas.. not a fan of that but it's ok. Thevhave normal rough texture too which I have in other paintings which is my fav. And they are cheap

I have a A4 pad of Arches but it's like a trophy for motivation.. never used 😜

What's the cost of the Arches pad?

About 40-45 USD here for A4 300gsm glued and these ones I use are are just about 5 for the same 😁
