Nice blitz chess game in the Lichess team competition. / Schöne Blitzschachpartie im Lichess-Mannschaftswettbewerb.

Hello chess friends! Last night, I played in the "Lichess League 4A" for "The Blockchain Chess Team", representing our HIVE chess community.

Since these team competitions start at 2 a.m. for me (living in the Philippines), it's not easy for me to stay focused throughout the entire tournament, and the next morning I always feel like I would have been partying all night. :)
So I really can't guarantee that I will participate in future team matches again.

Nevertheless, I managed to play at least one decent game, which I was able to conclude with a nice mating attack — but see for yourself:

Hallo Schachfreunde!

Already in the early middlegame, black was severely cramped...
Bereits im frühen Mittelspiel stand Schwarz sehr beengt ...

Black to move: / Schwarz am Zug:

FEN: 2kr1b1r/ppq2p1b/1np1pn1p/6p1/1P1PP3/1BN2N2/P1P1QBPP/1R3RK1 b - - 4 15

... and worsened their position even further with the following move, unnecessarily opening the b-file for my rooks with 15. ... Bxb4? 16. Bxe6+ fxe6 17. Rxb4, which would soon prove to be a grave mistake.

And here it has already happened — the pawn on b7 can no longer be defended:

... und verschlimmerte mit dem folgenden Zug seine Lage noch zusätzlich, indem er unnötigerweise mit 15. ... Lxb4? 16. Lxe6+ fxe6 17. Txb4 die b-Linie für meine Türme öffnete, was sich schon sehr bald bitter rächen sollte.

Und hier ist es schon passiert - der Bauer auf b7 ist nicht mehr zu verteidigen:

Black to move: / Schwarz am Zug:

FEN: 2kr1r2/1p1nq2b/p1p1p2p/P5p1/3PP1n1/1RN2NB1/2P1Q1PP/1R4K1 b - - 1 22

Two moves later, the position was ripe for the decisive final attack:

Zwei Züge später war die Stellung dann reif für die entscheidende Schlussattacke:

White to move: / Weiß am Zug:

FEN: 3r1r2/1k1nq2b/pPp1p2p/6p1/3PP1n1/1RN2NB1/2P1Q1PP/1R4K1 w - - 1 24

After the thunderbolt 24. Qxa6+! Kxa6 25. Ra1+, my opponent resigned, because after 25. ... Kb7 26. Ra7+ Kc8 27. b7#, black is checkmated.

The Bishop on g3 is so underrated in this positions. It helped both the sacrifice and the mating sequence. I didn’t even notice it while reviewing the game.

Qxa6! I’d be writing a post too if I made that brilliant move. Overall was a good game and a spectacular finish!

Good to see you writing bout chess. !PIZZA

Yes, suddenly it turned out that this bishop had a huge impact on the outcome of the game.

Concerning 24. Qxa6+ it is not really difficult to calculate the following variations but it's true that one can easily miss moves like that in blitz games, and it's always fun to win with a queen sacrifice.

I was taught by my late Father how to play chess. It's not my niche though because, I find it very challenging. I believe this game is for smart people. 😊

I believe this game is for smart people.

Then keep playing! :)

I struggle to follow the logic in games and puzzles. But Queen sacrifices against another strong player are always my favorite games (great game)!!!

Hopefully you can still play some tournaments. Be careful not to let those brain cells get old to quickly😂.

Nice to read that you liked the game and especially the queen sacrifice, @rodrook!
I hope the number of remaining brain cells will still allow me to play the one or other decent game in the coming few years. :)

that's some awesome playing and a very cool way to show us here. I really like when rooks are the attackers! ☺️👊♟️

Thank you for the compliment, @chinito!

Also my lines against London and tromposky aims to delete the bishop as quickly as possible. Although my position gets inferior as black, I try to cope better without it.

Is this an application or how can I join the chess community?
I know how to play chess

"The Chess Community" is just one of the many HIVE communities.

The tournaments, organized by @stayoutoftherz, take place on Lichess.

At 2 am? That's crazy, I wouldn't even be able to hold my eyes open, yet you won a game!

Yes, from 2 a.m. to past 3:30 a.m.
Actually, I am a night owl, but that is a little bit extreme. I prefer to read at night, think about things or solve some problems which keep me busy during the day, but in a relaxed way ...

Yeah, chess game needs a lot of concentration, predict all possible moves yours and of the opponent... Fun but not relaxing for the night 🤣

Yes, especially as it's blitz chess I need to think and react fast which requires much energy ... but I am a slow thinker by nature, lol. :)

Do you still have night walks? :)

Sure! :)
