Hivechess Tournament Round 7: A strong field and the usual winner!

Dear Chessfans,

in the seventh round of Hiveches season 5 we were 16 players (although some played only a few games), with an average rating of 1899 - by far the highest this season! It was a 6+0 round and so there was a lot of berserking going on. Despite recently we could welcome new strong players (e.g. @maverieux000 (Keylix) and @flaws (Jean1301)), we still miss a player in the league of @sawko who could compete with our regular winner. Behind @sawko with 14 points (!) distance @yazp (zulukill) could get the 2nd place again, followed by @jaki01.

No big changes again. Just Hivechess-newbie @flaws (Jean1301) jumped from nowhere to the 10th rank due to his good fourth place. The table shows that the top ranks are already quite significantly separated. Not sure what we can do next season to keep it more interesting. Shorter seasons maybe?

The rules you can look up in the announcement post.

See you all next week and - as always - keep practicing.

By the way, did anybody follow the Magnus Invitational online Rapid tournament last week? At the end Anish Giri succeeded in an exciting match against Ian Nepomniachtchi.

Starting to think that in arena tournaments you really need to play fast at all costs. Hope for more Swiss ones where you just try to make best moves you can.

Congrats especially to @jaki01 (2491 performance) and @flaws (7/8 in first tournament)

Indeed, Arena mode puts pressure to play fast (which in my case means fast AND weak). :)
This time I told myself, just not to care too much about speed and simply try to play as good as possible, which meant no chance to win the tournament but having played some nice and fun games at least. :)

Indeed. In my games against @sawko ("luckily" I had 2) I once fighted for a long time - at the end I made a mistake and so a huge waste of time, but in the second, after my first blunder I immediately resigned (what I would normally not do against a weaker player).

Next round will be Swiss again :)

the new season can be made dual (№6/7): play 2x30min with a five-minute break so that bullet and blitz don't get confused; I'm playing a bullet today for the last timeновый сезон можно сделать дуальным (№6/7): играть 2х30мин с пятиминутным перерывом, чтоб не путались пуля и блиц; я в пулю сегодня играю в последний раз

What do you mean 2x30? 2 rounds one after the other and each 30 min long? Or 2 games with 30min time?

2 раунда: Шестого сезона в пулю и Седьмого в блиц, или можно ещё как-то усложнить разницу между сезонами, чтоб разнообразить турнирную таблицу2 rounds: Sixth season in bullet and Seventh in blitz, or you can somehow complicate the difference between seasons in order to diversify the standings

Great stuff ...
More amazing seeing my favourite GM @GiriAnish win this tournament, twas deserved ...

I had great chances yesterday versus sawkito and vjap55 but I wasted both...

I know that feeling :)
