EROS THANATOS II - on ZoomHub

“It is possible, however, that the artist is both thin-skinned and prophetic and, like the canary lowered into the mine shaft to test the air, has caught a whiff of something lethal.”

When I first posted this artwork December 29th 2018, it was on the Busy.org with API to Steemit. Just another one that went belly-up, and while the text is still on Steemit, none of the image(s) are, since they were uploaded to Busy.org.
I am glad now that I am on PeakD/Hive to be able to share this drawing, which is by far the largest piece I had ever done.

September 3rd 2021 I posted about this piece being selected for the First Biennale of Fantastic Art in Belgrade.
Initially, it was created at the Pigmalion Artist Colony in Serbia in 2017.
Then, it was first shown also in Serbia: Exhibition and Book Presentation in BELGRADE, February 2018.

ZOOM HUB

However, this post is about a newly discovered Zoom application. The background story is that years ago I had used a Microsoft application called Zoom.it which worked very good. Then all of a sudden Microsoft, like with a few other apps, just pulled the plug on it. The expert programmers that had worked on it were not happy about this and said they will resurrect it on their own. But this project laid dormant for the longest time. Then just a few days ago I checked up on it again, and voila, they seemed to have done so. So I tested it out with a half-size file from the original scan done by Digital Laut in Vienna (I thought the original scan was way too large to upload for a test).
Unfortunately, embedding is not supported on here. I did embed it on my website though, so here is a screen clip from my website, linking to the result on ZoomHub:

This was just a test - I plan on using this application again. The embed feature works very well on my website. Check it out yourself:

I hope this site stays up, since it is free and quite uncomplicated to use. I will have to experiment and find out if I can tweak the embed code to a larger format to fit my website page better. But for now, I am happy with the results.

I hope posts like this are of some use to my artist and photographer friends on here. I had mentioned Zoom images in my previous post a couple of days ago: SHEPHERD OF THE SPHINX. On there, I showed another site I had been using for zoom images.

MY INTRODUCTION - ABOUT MY WORK

should you not be on the blockchain, or have no upvote power, or this post is already older than 7 days, you can always just buy me a coffee.

Sort:

Wow! This one is incredible. I thought it was a full artwork on that first image glimpse. But seeing the work in whole is even more captivating. There is definitely a lot to process and appreciate in this one.

This was from 2017 - it was quite a process to put this together. It does contain bits and pieces of previous works, like a collage of sorts, wrapped into the overall concept. Like the initial image leading this post, on the left side a detail from my charcoal drawing 'Nubian Kore' and on the right are 4 witches from Albrecht Dürer. In between a small detail from my drawing 'Vindobona Altarpiece III' and a stylised detail from 'Fomorii General'.
There was a previous drawing EROS THANATOS, hence the Nr. II for this one. The model of the skull is similar. I love working with graphite. This, with its size, was quite a challenge.

That's incredible! I haven't worked with graphite solely in a long time. That was always my preferred medium though. Thank you so much for explaining to me in detail the inspirations and processes. Albrecht Dürer and Matthias Grünewald were two of my favorite artists and inspirations next to Giger. I will have to check out your rabbit trail of links here in a bit when i get some time.

You really inspire me Otto. Thank you for that. If you wouldn't mind... when you get some time... i would like to get your thoughts on the latest post i did finishing up a work. It's part 3 in a series of WIPs that i did. But, you can see the final version in my latest post. I don't post often on my own blog since i'm so busy curating and whatnot... but it would be a delight to get your Professional artisttic opinion and/or critique on the work.

I had a look, and added a comment. I also shared it on my blog.
As for graphite, I developed all kinds of tricks for the decades since the late seventies. There was a time a few years back when I held workshops at the now defunct Visionary Art Academy in Vienna (the website still exists, but they switched to mostly on-line courses - Corona killed the actual place in Vienna).
Yes, time spent on curating can cut into your studio time. I should know, I founded a artists community that eventually expanded to over 500 artists VISIONARY ART GALLERY - and now I got the task of editing the pages after Flash was eliminated. Still have many pages left to do, adding HTML5 slide shows instead.

Thanks for the reblog. I just answered you over there. I also just checked out all those sites and that's a shame they had to close their doors. Y'all looked like you had some awesome artists and artworks coming out of there.

I wonder how curation was back in the day compared to the online version of it now? I don't think there is any substitution for personal interaction... but we are forging a new digital age.

I think you need to write an autobiography! hahahah After you finish the updated web pages of course.

Oh I want to try that zoomable ap, my own site is always a work in progress and I try to give more time to it, but there is just not enough hours in the day haha.

I wish we could use that zoomable here ,I try to upload small images so it will load, but sometimes would like it if viewers could zoom in for details on things.

Another great piece @thermoplastic and thanks for the tip on that zoom ap.

Depending how your website edit works, it should be easy to embed stuff. I am on Weebly, and on there it is a module you drag onto the page where you then enter your code.
Either one of the mentioned Zoom features work well enough. Either one can be expanded full screen, which is totally awesome!

I'm on wordpress , so I'm sure there are such aps. I've been struggling to keep up with that site as I so much more enjoy posting here on hive.

I love it! everything is so surreal and dark. I can lose myself for a good while watching everything that happens there. Great job! ✌️

thank you - yes, that was my intention 😉
