They called her "the ugly truck". She could smell their meaness, it oozed through their pores and made her stomach turn over. But she couldn't avoid them.
"Just ignore them," her sister said.
But it was easy to say, but impossible to do when you were stuck in the same classroom with them.
"Look at her," one of the grossest-smelling girls said. "She's so big and clumsy!" They sniggered together, and she blushed and turned away, holding her breath to try to avoid inhaling their vile words.
The teachers didn't notice, or if they did they didn't care.
She often wondered if it was only she who smelled the meaness from people.
Other people seemed to be able to sit near the girls without gagging.
Luckily, she sat away from them, and next to Amy, a girl who smelled sweet like salted caramel ice cream.
