The Town of Gado| FLASH FICTION

in Freewriters3 years ago

It was foggy and dark when we entered the small town of Gado. The trees and the grasses were still and shy, the morning dew settling upon them like flies on some carcasses. The town was quiet, too, men and women apparently still trapped beneath the warmth of blankets and pleasures.

We were bandits. We did not come to heal but to kill, to steal, and to destroy. We were brewers of terror and fear, the doom of those who came our way. Our mission was simple, set fire on the tiny town and loot food and money and livestock.

We were about to set fire to the first house in the town when a rain of arrows began. In less than a minute, ten of our men were down, dead. Seeing that, we fled for our lives and it was the last time any bandit visited the town of Gado.

Exactly what happened. They got more than what they had bargained for.
