The Unsung Heroes|AN ORIGINAL POEM

in Freewriters3 years ago

Though our heroes
With heads resting
On the pillows of freedom
Silently sleep in their graves
Their names will continue
To echo in our memories
Even though many have no monuments
Erected in their names
And the few monuments that exist in their names
Are being pulled down
The photographs of their deeds
Will continue to remain
In the album of our hearts and souls
From one generation to the other.
The men and women
Who cracked the loud shell of silence
To confront tyranny and oppression
Those who, while occupying the streets,
Took bullets and teargas to free us
Those who sat in the rain and in the sun
To say enough is enough
Will never be forgotten
For they are our true heroes
Those whose faces you see not on the bills.
