I Wish I Had A Dime : | #31 ZAPFIC MONDAY | (5/23/22) - Prompt: forgotten

For my participation this week, I decided to write a small tribute my ancestors. I felt the prompt forgotten was appropriate. I won't be able to write all that's in my heart and mind in 240 characters, but it's just enough words to convey my thoughts of late.

@felt.buzz changed up the challenge a bit to create a new format: ZAPFIC Monday. The rules are below if you'd like to participate.

Below is my story.

I wish I had a dime for every time,

shuffling feet hurriedly adorned tattered clothes at dawn;

whips cracked bent-over backs ripping flesh;

blood oozed from open wounds;

runaways' necks hung from limbs.

ANCESTORS YOU'RE GONE,

But Not Forgotten.
