A journey through Europe from an urban park in Torrejon de Ardoz. Beauty in its purest form

in Pinmapple10 months ago

Hi friends,

It's been more than a week since I last visited the #pinmapple community.

Today I want to show you how I could enjoy a trip around Europe from a park located in the town of Torrejón de Ardoz (Madrid), and from there to enjoy several replicas of the most famous monuments and statues of Europe and in turn several additional beauties.

Europa Park

Europa Park, located in Torrejón de Ardoz, is a park of 190,000 square metres, with park of 190,000 square metres, with a large number of green areas based on natural species and monuments associated with the different countries that make up the European Union.

DSC01566.JPG

The park has four entrances, and in my case I entered the park through the gate that leads to the replica of Madrid's Alcalá Gate.

DSC01564 (2).JPG

Three Graces

However, before reaching one of Madrid's main monuments on the left side, as you enter the park, I found a replica of the statue of the three graces by Antonio Canova in the Louvre Museum.

Madrid`s Alcalá Gate

Then, following the perfectly manicured path, I entered the park, passing right next to Madrid's Alcalá Gate. It is almost the same size as the original one, with all the details taken care of, including the cherubs at the top of the monument.

DSC01572 (2).JPG

I then followed my path to the right with the intention of walking in an anti-clockwise direction through the park.

Beautiful rose bushes near the Atomium in Brussels

Continuing my walk through the park, the next point of interest I came across in the park was the replica of the Atomium. I was delighted to find it, as I am a chemist by profession and the chemical structures remind me of my years of study at university and the good times I had.

DSC01578 (2).JPG

This area of the park is especially beautiful, because in the immediate vicinity there are beautiful yellow and pink roses that give the park a very pleasant scent for those of us who like the fragrance of roses.

DSC01576 (2).JPG

DSC01574 (2).JPG

Fountain of the European Union

As in any park, and even more so in a hot area like Madrid, there should always be fountains where the atmosphere is more refreshing.

DSC01581 (2).JPG

In this case, near the structure of the atomiun there is a large fountain where the countries of the European Union are indicated and which is a good didactic place for children.

DSC01580 (2).JPG

At the same time, as if it were a euro coin, the fountain has star-shaped sprinklers at different heights, which unfortunately I could not photograph in such a way that you can see them completely, although you can get an idea by looking at the information panel.

DSC01582 (2).JPG

There is no shortage of fun, even if you have to pay for it.

Apart from the different replicas that I will be showing you, another of the park's attractions are its rides.

DSC01585 (2).JPG

Some of them, such as the ones I show you in the following photographs, require an entrance fee, so not everyone can afford to bring their children to the park every day.

DSC01584 (3).JPG

One of the paid attractions in this area that I liked the most is the children's golf course with its amusing props.

DSC01589 (2).JPG

Maneken Piss

Without having to go to Brussels, I came across the Maneken Piss in the park. The original fountain is located in Brussels and I am sure that the Maneken Piss will have more water than the one in the park. However, I'm sure it doesn't have as nice a shade as the one in the park in Torrejón de Ardoz.

DSC01591 (3).JPG

DSC01595 (2).JPG

From fountain to fountain to the Trevi Fountain

After passing through Brussels with the Manaken Piss, the next place I stopped was the replica of the Trevi Fountain.

DSC01600 (2).JPG

It is smaller in size than the original, but the imitation is still quite good.

DSC01601 (2).JPG

Even with the water that was in the fountain, you can capture some reflections of the fountain for the reflection contest organised by @olgavita in the #shadowhunters community.

DSC01603.JPG

But before I got to the fountain, I was taken by this hedge of white flowers, which was beautiful.

DSC01596 (2).JPG

Emblem of France and Europe

A replica of the Eiffel Tower could not be missing, although in this case its size is much smaller and the top is also different. Of all the monuments, it is perhaps the one with the poorest replica.

However, the bushes around the path to the Tower are very beautiful with their spiral shape.

DSC01609 (3).JPG

Back to the centre of the park, hand in hand with Michelangelo's David.

Once I had reached the Eiffel Tower, I made my way back to the centre of the park using the opposite route to the one I had taken and in an uncrowded area among the bushes I came across Michelangelo's David.

DSC01615 (2).JPG

After taking the photo I stood next to him and noticed that his gaze was leading me to a distant area where there was a great bustle and I did not hesitate to approach him.

Camping area and waterfall

How marvellous to discover that the noise came from an area where there are some camping tables and that in this area there were several children celebrating a birthday with their parents.

DSC01618 (2).JPG

But it was more gratifying to feel the coolness of this waterfall with the drops that the wind carried towards me, refreshing me a little from the heat.

DSC01622 (2).JPG

A Viking lake

Continuing on my way, after briefly refreshing myself in the waterfall, I came to an area where a black swan was swimming in an artificial lake.

DSC01624 (2).JPG

In this lake there is a half sunken Viking ship in honour of the Nordic countries of Europe.

DSC01675 (2).JPG

Elephants in Europe?

A funny thing I found near the Viking Lake was a herd of green elephants built by pruning bushes.

DSC01672 (2).JPG

The truth is that these figures built with the vegetation of the park are beautiful, only that the presence of elephants in Europe I think only occurs in circuses and zoos so I could not correlate these figures with the history of Europe.

DSC01630 (2).JPG

Some free attractions

Earlier, I showed you a few paid children's attractions. However, there are also free playgrounds in the park with sandbanks and castles for children to play on.

DSC01631 (2).JPG

I liked this because we have to think about the economy of all families.

My favourite place (The Little Mermaid)

My favourite place in the park was this area where I met the little mermaid of Copenhagen, with a navigable lake and the bridge of the Tower of London behind her.

DSC01634 (2).JPG

In this area of the park it was noticeable that the large body of water in the navigable lake brought the temperature down somewhat, along with the shade provided by the larger trees.

A giant at my back

On my back, when I was photographing the little mermaid, I saw the giant woman. This is an attraction that was closed and that consists of going inside the structure and learning about the human body and its organs. A great classroom of knowledge from what my family in Madrid who have been on this attraction told me.

DSC01637.JPG

Tower of London Bridge

As I mentioned, behind the little mermaid there is a jetty and a lake.

DSC01635 (2).jpg

So in order to get to the other side of the park you have the option of either going around it or crossing the Tower of London Bridge to get to the other side of the park.

DSC01639 (2).JPG

Puerta del Sol in Madrid

And from London I can see Madrid, specifically the Puerta del Sol which is one of the emblematic squares of Spain and one of the places where they broadcast the New Year's Eve chimes in Spain. A pleasure to see it from London Bridge

DSC01640 (2).JPG

Greece, the origin of European civilisation

Greece could not be missing in this park as the cradle of European civilisation, represented by a Greek theatre.

DSC01642 (2).JPG

Also, presiding over the theatre is a replica of the Winged Victory of Samothrace, which, although it is in the Louvre, is of Greek origin.

DSC01643 (2).JPG

Germany and its history

Germany is represented in this park in a very important way, or I think with two very important contributions.

On the one hand, it is one of the entrance gates to the park, through the Brandenburg Gate.

DSC01654 (2).JPG

However, I believe that the most historically valuable piece is an original piece of the Berlin Wall, donated by the city of Berlin to the city of Torrejon de Ardoz for the construction of this park.

DSC01652 (2).JPG

The Dutch windmills

Another of the founding countries of the European Union and represented in this park is the Netherlands.

DSC01657 (2).JPG

Is there anything more famous than its windmills?

Well, here they are represented with the replica of the Kinderdijk windmills.

My beloved Belem Tower

In the last few months, I have been to Lisbon several times and, as I have already mentioned, I have a weakness for the Belem district and its tower.

DSC01662 (2).JPG

It was a surprise to find it in a small miniature in this park.

Back to the exit from where I had come in.

On my way back to the exit I came across several paths where I could walk in the shade.

DSC01660 (2).JPG

However, the best area is a small path surrounded by flowers where there are some impressive roses and other flowers.

DSC01666.JPG

DSC01667 (2).JPG

And also an area of small exotic birds where they flutter around endlessly.

DSC01665 (2).JPG

An ice cream and home to my relatives

After finishing the tour I rewarded myself with an ice-cream contemplating again the Puerta de Alcalá in Madrid and then I went to visit my relatives in Torrejon de Ardoz.

I hope you liked this trip through Europe from a park in Madrid.

Greetings.
