How to find the Haus am See:
From the Eupener Straße in the southern quarter of Aachen in the direction of the Belgian border, the street Diepenbenden leaves after half a kilometer. If you follow it, you will reach the "Haus am See" on "Am Chorusberg". This existed long before a successful German song was written about it. The small reservoir was already built in about 1928, at the same time as the Kupferbach reservoir. It is a wonderful place for those seeking recreation in the middle of the built-up southern Aachen city area. Hikes to nearby Belgium are possible. The lake radiates a heavenly tranquility and is characterized by a special energy. A memorial square is located right next to the "Haus am See". It is a quiet place, although directly on the road, surrounded by a small wall and a park bench. The view from there of the mirror-smooth water surface glistening in the sun transports you into other spheres. The reservoir Diepenbenden is supplied by the small river "Wurm".

Von der Eupener Straße im Südviertel Aachens in Richtung Belgische Grenze geht nach einem halben Kilometer die Straße Diepenbenden ab. Wer ihr folgt, der erreicht „Am Chorusberg“ das „Haus am See“. Dieses gab es schon, lange bevor ein erfolgreiches deutsches Lied hierüber geschrieben wurde. Der kleine Stausee wurde bereits ca. 1928 erbaut, zur gleichen Zeit wie der Stauweiher Kupferbach. Er ist ein wunderbarer Platz für Erholung suchende inmitten des bebauten südlichen Aachener Stadtgebietes. Wanderungen bis in das nahe gelegene Belgien sind möglich. Der See strahlt eine himmlische Ruhe aus und ist von besonderer Energie geprägt. Ein Denkmalplatz befindet sich unmittelbar neben dem „Haus am See“. Es ist ein stiller Ort, obwohl unmittelbar an der Straße, mit einer kleinen Mauer umgeben und einer Parkbank. Der Blick von dort auf die in der Sonne gleißende spiegelglatte Wasseroberfläche entführt in andere Sphären. Der Stausee Diepenbenden wird von dem Flüsschen „Wurm“ versorgt.

The best way to find the restaurant is via Tripadvisor and as the location suggests it is a bit more expensive as you are allowed to contribute your share for the beautiful surroundings and the great playground.
Das Restaurant findest Du am besten via Tripadvisor und wie es die Lage vermuten lässt ist es etwas teuerer da man für die schöne Umgebung und den tollen Spielplatz seinen Anteil beitragen darf.
You know how such a visit ends - Du dachtest Dir sicher wie das hier endet.
Sure the idyllic place invites you to linger and after all the walking around and photographing the man is also thirsty. So purely in the restaurant "Zum Haus am See", which is located opposite the small house and so allows a beautiful view over the water.
Klar der idyllische Platz lädt zum verweilen ein und nach dem ganzen herumlaufen und Fotografieren wird der Mensch ja auch durstig. Also rein in das Restaurant "Zum Haus am See", welchen gegenüber dem kleinen Haus liegt und so einen schönen Blick über das Wasser erlaubt.

Der bekannte Song von **Peter Fox **mit dem gleichnamigen Titel darf natürlich nicht fehlen. Klar summte ich mir die Melodie leise zu dem Bierchen. Wobei ich mir einen Bericht zu einem Krombacher Pils dann lieber erspare. Gab da halt nix anderes.....

Hehehe I immediately thought of this awesome summer song with it. Looks like a cool place honestly. That whole corner of belgian border, luxembourg and german border really has some nice areas to go to. You dont always have to go far right?
That brings me to the idea to plan a #HiveMeetupAachen there.
An evening with good food and 20 ore more people would be easy. There is a lot of free parking close by...

Das sehe ich so oft bei deutschen Restaurants, das es bei der !BEER Auswahl nur Pils, Alt und Weizen gibt. In holländischen Lokalen haben die zum Teil eigene Bierkarten. Schade.
Ja, oftmals weil die Brauerei finanziell involviert ist und daher so versucht den Markt für sich zu halten. Ist halt ein System aus der Vergangenheit, denn heute zählt Vielfalt und nicht nur eine Marke.
