Nieve por primera vez para mi. // Snow for my very first time.

Nacida y criada en el Noroeste de Argentina, en un Valle rodeado de montañas verdes fui a conocer la nieve por primera vez a mis 31 años. Con un viaje en bibicleta por la Patagonia programado para ese año (2019) casualmente me surge la posibilidad de trabajar en Bariloche en temporada de invierno, y por si fuera poco, el hotel donde trabajaría esta ubicado al pie del Cerro Catedral, donde se encuentra el centro de ski más grande de America Latina.

Born and raised in the Northwest of Argentina, in a valley surrounded by green mountains, I went to know snow for the first time when I was 31 years old. With a trip to Patagonia scheduled for that year (2019), the possibility of working in Bariloche in winter season arises, and as if that were not enough, the hotel where I would work is located at the foot of Cerro Catedral, where is the largest ski center in Latin America.

Con Nico (@nicolasdosse) llegamos con la emoción que se tiene ante cualquier nueva experiencia. Nos enamoramos de Bariloche desde el primer día. La costanera que delinea el Lago Nahuel Huapi, las imponentes montañas que abrazan la ciudad y los mantos de nieve todavía tímidos que coronaban las cumbres nos hipnotizaron.

With Nico (@nicolasdosse) we arrived with the excitement that one has before any new experience. We fell in love with Bariloche from day one. The waterfront that outlines Lake Nahuel Huapi, the imposing mountains that embrace the city and the still timid blankets of snow that crowned the peaks mesmerized us.

La temporada empieza en un abrir y cerrar de ojos. Y en medio de la vorágine del trabajo y la rutina cayó lo que fue la mayor nevada de los últimos 15 años. Literalmente un regalo caído del cielo para sacar el niño que llevamos dentro y jugar de todas las formas posibles. Angelitos en la nieve, culipatin, guerras de bolas de nieve, hasta nos animamos a subir al cerro y probar snowboard.

El día que subimos coincidió con uno de los más fríos de la temporada, los guantes se me congelaban en el camino hacia la pista, pero sólo hasta que llegamos y entramos en calor cayéndonos una y mil veces en la nieve, divirtiéndonos mientras jugábamos a aprender.
Estábamos con un amigo a quien se le resbaló la tabla de snowboard y tuvo que recuperarla saliéndose de la pista hacia un arroyo que corría por la montaña con agua de deshielo!!! (Momento de tensión que se convirtió en la anécdota del día ajaja)

The day we climbed coincided with one of the coldest of the season, my gloves froze on the way to the track, but only until we arrived and warmed up, falling a thousand times in the snow, having fun while we played to learn .
We were with a friend who's snowboard slipped and had to retrieve it by going off the track towards a stream that ran down the mountain with meltwater !!! (Moment of tension that became the anecdote of the day ahaha)

Here my gloves were frozen. I was suffering!!! hahaha!

Para el final de la temporada, cuando la nieve fue abriendo paso nos adentramos en algunos de los muchísimos senderos que hay para recorrer, entre ellos llegamos a algunos refugios de montaña donde luego del ascenso se puede descansar al lado de una estufa a leña y comer algo para recuperar energía, siempre rodeados de más y más montañas. Algunas con puntiagudas formas de aguja, otras como gigantes muros que se elevan hasta el cielo. Todas cargadas de la indescriptible energía que nos regala la naturaleza.

By the end of the season, when the snow was opening the way we went into some of the many trails that there are to go, among them we reached some mountain refuges where after the ascent you can rest next to a wood stove and eat something to regain energy, always surrounded by more and more mountains. Some with pointed needle shapes, others like gigantic walls that rise up to the sky. All charged with the indescribable energy that nature gives us.

Hoy, después de dos años de aquel momento, después de nuestro primer (pero no último) viaje en bicicleta, después de un año con una extensa cuarentena estricta por causa de la pandemia, estamos de nuevo aquí, con una nueva oportunidad de disfrutar uno de los entornos más hermosos que conocimos en nuestros viajes. Nos sentimos enormemente afortunados!!!

Today, after two years from that moment, after our first (but not last) bicycle trip, after a year with an extensive strict quarantine due to the pandemic, we are here again, with a new opportunity to enjoy one. of the most beautiful environments that we met in our travels.
