The Museum of folk architecture in Sanok

in Pinmapple2 years ago

Hello again 🌻

I had this post in mind for a little while. Podkarpackie voivodeship is a great place for your bigger or smaller travels - Galician spirit is hidden in nearly every town, and not only that - if you're an enthusiast of horses, but you can also easily find beautiful stables, woven with hills, forests and tracks. Today I'd like to present one of the rarest places with original buildings and truly Galician square - the museum of folk architecture in Sanok.

Enthusiasts of modern art probably know one of the most famous Polish painters, Zdzisaław Beksiński, who was born in Sanok. His artworks are located in the very same city, not far from this place. But about that, maybe I'll write the other time.

What does the museum offer? From start, it is located in a wonderful park, surrounded by beautiful old mansions, trees, and little gardens. On the main square, you can find souvenirs, handmade products, and a cafe with regional treat proziaki.
On the main square, you can also find houses of a photographer, shoemaker, hairdresser/barber, tailor, post office, apothecary, an original Jewish house with mezuzah and paper cut-outs for Szawout (if you are visiting around August, or menorah around December).
You can truly feel the 19th-century Galician spirit here.

The museum contains artefacts and buildings connected with an Orthodox church and Judaica. The Old Synagogue was rebuilt last year, it might be open in Summer. Apart from that, you can learn about the Subcarpathian culture and customs of Bojko, Lemko, Zamieszańcy or Pogórzanie.

On the other side of the park, a 19th-century Polish manor house is located.

It's a great place to visit and come back for another one. You can buy a ticket and walk by yourself, or pay for a guide.

That museum is beautiful, at first glance I had thought it was a normal house, it's almost like a treasure, I find it interesting that I do art homework and I just see this post hahaha. 🤣

It’s a great place to explore by yourself, and even do a little plain air sketch or painting.
