A Worthwhile Stay at New Villa Sandra Guesthouse, Malapascua Island!

When choosing a place to stay when traveling to other places, I usually like to stay in affordable decent hostels or backpacker accommodations. Not that I'm frugal but because I know I can use the money for other activities or perhaps eat delicious food I haven't tried from the places I explore. So during our trip to Malapascua Island here in Cebu, I booked our 4D3N stay in NEW VILLA SANDRA GUESTHOUSE.

THE THINGS I LIKE ABOUT THIS GUESTHOUSE

👉 Affordable Rooms

I opt to go for the backpacker non-aircon room which only costs us $6 a night per person. Once we got to our room, we found that we were the only ones booking there so it was like having the room all to ourselves. However, it bothered me that one door was missing its handle since they were still doing a lot of renovations at that time. Since we were constantly going out, I always had to talk to the staff to make sure our things were secured.

After our first night, the management offered to move us to the backpacker's aircon room just to ease my anxiety. 😁 They didn't anymore increase our rates and the room had its bathroom. I was able to leave our room anytime with confidence. This gesture tells how much they care for their guests.

👉 Chill Spot To Work

I know we came to Malapascua for an adventure but ofcourse, work doesn't elude us. As far as I remember, I and @ybanezkim26 always bring our laptops for us to work during our free time so it was important for us to have access to the internet and a space to work.

Besides the free wi-fi, this wide-open space in New Villa Sandra was just so peaceful and relaxing to have breakfast and do our work, especially in the morning. The interior was mostly made of wood and so it was cool to stay here even if the weather would be extremely hot by noon. Since it was an open space, the cool air would just pass by and we could hear the sound of the birds from the nearby trees.

👉 Delicious Food

The pasta I ordered was tasty and just enough for the day. They had a lot of options to choose from and we enjoyed eating their food. It does take them a while to prepare but in the end, it's all worth it. Food prices would range from $3 - $5. If you opt to bring your food, you can do this as well without a corkage fee.

👉 Yoga Space

During this trip, I brought with me my yoga mat. It was very important for me to do my practice since we would be freediving almost every day. And so I was elated to find this open space located on the 2nd floor near the reception area. The interior was also made out of hardwood so it wasn't that hot to do my yoga practice during the afternoon.

👉 Sunset View Deck

This sunset view deck in New Villa Sandra was a win for me! We never had plans to do sunset-watching however we found ourselves exploring this part of the villa when I noticed this little kid and his nanny were playing up here. I then asked the staff if I could go up and she said yes. The spot was just across the treehouse and so we had to climb a few steps to reach it. The roof was covered with a couple of mats so that it would be easier to move up and not slip. And to be honest, I was a bit scared that I would fall.

Once I was settled on the mat, I brought my gaze to the scenery before my eyes. It was breathtaking to see the skies in orange and blue hues. The sea was visible from where we were. The sound of the church bells could be too. We stayed here for about 2 hours as we also gazed at the full moon during that night.

Besides the affordable rates of the rooms and food, the guesthouse was close to the port and the market. The staff was very accommodating, especially the girl named Lyca who gave me the tour inside. Overall, New Villa Sandra Guesthouse is a great place to stay when you head to Malapascua Island here in Cebu. You only need to message their FB Page to book a room with them.

I'm pretty sure I'll be coming back to Malapascua and book another stay here!

Love the food. Good afternoon!

Thank you!

You're welcome (^_^)

It's a cozy homestay. I love staying in eco-friendly homestays like that. Trees and wooden furniture look amazing.

Speaking of homestay! I know that is also common there in Vietnam but wasn't so sure about it back then. So when I chose the homestay instead of a hostel, it means I'm living with a family there, right? Does that mean as well, that food is already inclusive?

I really like dis

Wahahaha. thanks. All I lack now is a handsome hunky dude from Australia to sit by my side.

Am sure you have hunky guys lining up to try their luck with you.
