Whitewater Rafting in Cagayan De Oro, Philippines

Just sharing an amazing outdoor activity I've scratched off from my bucket list before and that is WHITE WATER RAFTING. There is no other place to best do this but in CAGAYAN DE ORO which is known as the whitewater rafting capital in the Philippines.

I am a lover of adventures and extreme activities despite being scared sometimes. Its how I conquer my fear of heights and fear of the unknown. Me and my cousins as much as possible we head out to do different outdoor adventures. However this time, I was the "third wheel" to these 2 couples.

There are many tour companies you could choose from. We went with Great White Water Tours. They have been doing this for years and with no record of accidents. Speaking of accidents, we geared ourselves with protective PPE's ofcourse.

There were two groups, each assigned with 2 tour guides. Our tour guide gave us a basic orientation to water rafting, some rules and commands and what to do's. Didn't expect that it was hot but good things we wore long sleeves. After which, we were all rearing to go into the water. Our hearts were excited.

Big smiles before the real action. We rode in our inflatable boat and off we went. Since it was our first time, we got the Beginner's Level where we only had class 2-3 rapids and a good 3 hour run for the activity.

At first the rapids were slow and easy to move through. Even though we were so concentrated with paddling and conquering the rapids, we were at the same time amazed by the luscious vegetation around and the rock formations we passed through.

There were time were it was all smooth sailing or we were just drifting through the waters. I thought to myself "Well, that was easy 🤔" Didn't expect what was coming after that - harder rapids and adrenaline rush! And yes, we flipped and got wet!

My heart almost drop everytime we reached a crazy turn. That feeling like when you ride in a roller coaster - same feeling when doing whitewater rafting! If we fall we just let ourselves be drifted along the water. Our guides would come to the rescue.

As we were the end of our fun activity and the other group was already following us behind, they had us all dip in the water and enjoy the nature. Me and my cousins also tried riding in the smaller boat.

It was an absolute crazy fun experience for us! Worth it and a must try for adrenaline junkies! There are many adventures and outdoor sports or activities here in the Philippines that brings you to see our natural wonders or amazing mother nature!
