This hot spring or hydrothermal spring is located east of the city of Banda Aceh, in a valley across from the elongated hills that form the northernmost headland on the island of Sumatra. Or approximately 8 kilometers to the south from the coast of a bay called Krueng Raya bay in Aceh Besar. It is often visited and has become a popular tourist destination because the sulfur water seeping from the ground at the foot of the hill is believed to have medical value, or because many people simply like the sensation of the warm water.
There are two roads, in fact, to get there. One road, is to pass the coast from Banda Aceh to the Krueng Raya bay and then turn south for approximately 8 kilometers. Along this road one can enjoy beautiful coastal views and pleasant breezes. The other is a road that crosses rice fields and hills in the interior of Aceh Besar. This road is no less exciting and offers interesting views on a sunny day with sunshine that can trigger enthusiasm and vitality.
We chose a road that crossed the hills where before reaching higher hills, we crossed the middle of rice fields. The wind that blows in the rice fields is amazing. Then go up and down the road in the hilly area before crossing the peak to get to the slope on the other side of the hill.
Over the top of the hill, from this side slope, we can see the blue sea surface in the distance.
We passed in front of a date palm garden.
On the way down the hilly slopes, we can stop at a kiosk with several traditional shelters, called Jamboe, provided there. We took a short break here while cooling off with a cold drink and enjoying the natural charms of this height.
Continuing down the hillside and shortly after reaching the valley plain, we will quickly find a signboard where the hot spring is located.
A few minutes later, we will be in front of a steep hill and find a complex where traditional shelters covered with Rumbia leaves are lined up neatly.
The view towards the hot spring source at the foot of the hill.
You can see smoke rising from the water seeping from between the rocks.
Thermophile that thrives.
Short embankments are made around the spring to direct hot water to the bathing pools.
The channels are made in such a way that the hot water temperature can drop to become warm and comfortable for bathing.
The chicken and bird eggs provided by the snack vendors here are for those interested in dipping and boiling the eggs in the hot spring. Just wait about 15 minutes, the chicken eggs are cooked and can be eaten.
Bathing pools with warm, healthy water.
Bathing pools for children, escorted by their parents, are also specially available here.
After enjoying a warm bath in warm weather, then coconut is an offer to consider.
But I prefer ice cream to compensate for the warmth that is felt.
Oops! No need to worry if this animal suddenly appears in front of us. Because it is only a cow interested in grazing the lush grass in this location. Our ice cream is safe! And importantly, the saturation that we may have felt in our last week days is like having been removed by the warmth of the mineral-rich sulfur water.
