My first bicycle trip through Europe - day 1

The first day started with a plane ride. Fortunately, the bike survived and was not injured. I turned it back around 1 hour after which I made my way from Zadar airport towards the historic city center.

In my opinion, Zadar is very charming. Maybe it was due to the early hour, but the city did not seem kitschy to me like most tourist towns. I hope to return there someday to visit them peacefully.
From Zadar, I took the EuroVelo route to the north. The trail in this place was in the form of a comfortable and wide bicycle path, unfortunately only a dozen or so kilometers away.
I visited a bit of the coast to feel this holiday atmosphere.

At the height of the village of Maslenica, my attention was drawn to an interesting-looking bridge. Unfortunately, it was windy and I was unable to launch the drone. However, I could watch the approaching storm that caught me 10 kilometers away without any obstacles.

I was driving through the outskirts, so the only place where I could hide was the restaurant where I had dinner. The Croatian Ćevapčići were very tasty.

After lunch I went to the canyon on the Zmanja river - I was lucky enough to fly there.

Then just uphill. About 700 meters over 10 kilometers. With panniers weighing about 15 kg and gusty wind, it was not so easy.
The uphill route was quite monotonous, so I was glad to go down to the town of Gračac.
Further, following the EuroVelo trail, I turned towards the west.
The sun was getting lower and I could admire the beautiful green and sparsely populated areas. Unfortunately, I did not have the opportunity to come across any interesting place to take pictures.

That day I pitched my tent on a meadow full of ... oregano. My tent has never smelled so good.

Dzień pierwszy rozpocząłem od podróży samolotem. Na szczęście rower przetrwał i nie odniósł żadnych obrażeń. Skręcałem go z powrotem około 1 godziny, po czym z lotniska w Zadarze ruszyłem w kierunku historycznego centrum miasta.
W mojej ocenie Zadar jest bardzo urokliwy. Może było to spowodowane dość wczesną godziną, ale miasto nie wydało mi się kiczowate jak większość turystycznych miejscowości. Mam nadzieję, że kiedyś tam wrócę żeby zwiedzić je na spokojnie.
Z Zadaru szlakiem EuroVelo udałem się w kierunku północnym. Szlak w tym miejscu był w postaci wygodnej i szerokiej ścieżki rowerowej, niestety tylko w odległości kilkunastu kilometrów.
Zwiedziłem sobie trochę wybrzeża żeby poczuć ten wakacyjny klimat.
Na wysokości miejscowości Maslenica moją uwagę zwrócił ciekawie wyglądający most. Niestety mocno wiało i nie byłem w stanie odpalić drona. Za to bez przeszkód mogłem oglądać nadciągającą burzę, która złapała mnie 10 kilometrów dalej.
Jechałem akurat przez peryferia, dlatego jedyne miejsce gdzie mogłem się schować to restauracja gdzie zjadłem obiad. Chorwackie Ćevapčići były bardzo smaczne.
Po obiedzie zajechałem do kanionu na rzece Zmanja- tam już mogłem na szczęście polatać.
Potem już tylko pod górkę. Jakieś 700 metrów na 10 kilometrach. Przy sakwach ważących jakieś 15 kg i porywistym wietrze nie było to takie proste.
Trasa pod górkę była dosyć monotonna, więc ucieszyłem się ze zjazdu do miasteczka Gračac.
Dalej kierując się szlakiem EuroVelo odbiłem w kierunku zachodnim.
Słońce było coraz niżej, a ja mogłem podziwiać piękne zielone i mało zaludnione tereny. Niestety nie miałem okazji natrafić na jakieś ciekawe miejsce do robienia zdjęć.
Tego dnia namiot rozbiłem na łące pełnej...oregano. Mój namiot nigdy tak pięknie nie pachniał.
