Today was one of those great days, where I had the chance to wander between the worlds. Those times are just perfect to explore the places left and right our daily road.

I was on my way to (my second) job and since I had no time pressure, I was just drifting into some unfamiliar streets and exploring new ways. Especially one area corner, within and around Akiha Park (which I had just introduced to you some days before), had caught my attention. I would love to explore all its paths and corners and see what might be hidden there.

The Akiha Park stretches over several hills and the surrounding area partly contains of some residential neighborhoods nestled closely together. The roads here are sometimes quite steep and, as it is normally the case in such areas, also quite narrow. Some of these roads also lead into the park and in some cases all way through and out again at some other point. If you don't shy away from a little adventure and like to get involved in taking small side roads, it always comes as a surprise where you suddenly end up. The many curves and slopes in these hills push even the best sense of direction to its limits. And exactly that' s why I was so excited today to take exactly those side roads I just mentioned and to anticipate where I might end up.

And after I drove some of those roads in and around the park, on which I permanently went up and down and, I had slowly gotten a better overview of that area. Suddenly I was standing in front of a small road fork, in whose middle I some a Tori(-gate), which seemed to lead me right into the woods. Normally behind a Tori there is always a shrine, but I could not see anything like that from my car. At first I was ready to drive on, but fortunately I got my foot on the brake and parked the car at the roadside.

No, I cannot let this chance slip away. Exactly because of such places, this country lies so close to my heart. And if not now, then when?

DEUTSCH

IMG_8412.JPG

The way through the gate was paved with three rows of thick granite slabs. A car could easily drive along here, but at the latest at this first staircase that kind of fun would have been over. And even from here there was still nothing to be seen of the shrine.

IMG_8413.JPG

After going up the first stairs, another Tori gate was already waiting for me and I assumed to be soon at the end of the path and thus at my destination.

IMG_8414.JPG

But as you can see, the shrine was still a long way off, the paved path stretched deeper into the forest and at the very end I could make out a building. And that's where I was drawn to.

Dahin zog es mich also.

IMG_8415.JPG

To the left and right of the path stood several stone lanterns, called Tourou 灯篭 in Japan, which here in the Land of the Rising Sun can often be found in temple and shrine complexes. In the 6th century these stone lanterns found their way from China into the country and are a perfect complement to the mystical atmosphere that often originates from such places. With every step I was now suddenly in an even better mood then before and I was already glad to have dared this little stop and walk here. It was simply enchanting.

IMG_8417.JPG

Even the next staircase was not quite the end of my way, but now I could finally and clearly make out my goal. Justs some more stairs and steps were still in front of me and I was not in a hurry. Isn't it wonderful when the way is actually our goal?

IMG_8418.JPG

After climbing the last steps, the little treasure of this part of the forest was now almost in front of me, framed by more Tourou lanterns and the dense and fresh green of the trees and bushes. And around me only the wind and the voices of nature.

IMG_8419.JPG

The Suga shrine itself, as this gem here in the woods is called, can of course not compete with the colorful and well-visited shrines in the larger cities, but exudes a very special charm of its own, which goes much deeper into the heart and soul. I was just happy and excited to stand exactly in this moment at this place of our wonderful planet and to be able to breathe in and out very calmly and relaxed.

IMG_8420.JPG

Here at Suga Shrine, there was no need to strain after effect, as everything seems just a little more genuine and sustainable. The shrine visitor, after a small prayer or some expression of gratitude, then usually grabs this long cord to ring this bell. And I am sure that when I was swinging on this cord, the bell had expressed my mood just in the right way.

IMG_8423.JPG

Forest and shrine seem to have entered into their own symbiotic relationship, with is perfectly shown by the stone lanterns which are often covered with thick green mosses. A wonderful combination.

IMG_8424.JPG

And even the way back seemed to transport the whole mood and atmosphere of this place and moment. Who can not go into raptures at this sight? My heart was open and with each step I inhaled and absorbed more of the energy emanating from this shrine and forest. Head up high and keep the body straight and then perceive the atmosphere with all your senses. This moment was just right.

IMG_8429.JPG

And I didn't forget a long and intense look back, full of gratitude and at the same time full of awe and respect for nature and life. And on my way out I continued to feel this tension and excitement that made me to stop and take a closer look here.

IMG_8430.JPG

Nothing is ending here, but everything is starting here right now. The joy and gratitude, but also the freshness and energy that accompanied me on my walk through the forest, will not leave me so quickly and will ensure that the rest of the day and my life will also be a success and everyone isinvited to share in it.

IMG_8431.JPG

And at the end of the way back, the shining of the setting sun also wonderfully joined into the play of light and shadow. Exactly such pictures are what I want to store forever in my head, and which help me not to lose my balance even in hectic times.

And I am sure that I absolutely want and need to return to this rather hidden place. Because beauty shines and works all the more when it is shared. And exactly for this reason I will visit this magical power spot again soon, my own longing will soon urge me and intuitively lead me here again.
