QT Resort Gold Coast

Gooooooood morning @haveyoubeenhere peeps I hope you're all having a wonderful day. Its the weekend and for me, middle of summer and the weather getting warmer I'm wishing I could get away on a holiday. But due to COVID I can't :(

So in today's posts I want to share with you the time I went to the Gold Coast in Queensland to escape the hustle and bustle of Melbourne and sip martinis by the pool and swim in the Ocean.

We stayed at the wonderful QT resort, this was the resort that Justin Beiber stayed at when he visited Australia a decade ago. He got into a lot of trouble for graffiting the tennis courts and made international news for being destructive.

QT resort is themed as a 1960s pinup with bright colours and retro feel but with a modern twist.

It's blends of colours showcase the best of the 60s and make you feel like you've entered a time warp, the attire worn by staff are baby blue a colour that was popular back then (I think)

The decor is very abstract also makes you feel like your in some kind of an acid trip. It's use of high ceilings and sharp edges complement the theme and make it a bit more modern. As well as the use of whites, greys and blacks. Back in the 60s it was more fake Wood grain, apricot and orange. Apricot was the peak of middle class wealth. Oh I remember entering family members homes who had apricot walls or orange bench tops and think ewww. But it was a thing.

The pool consists of a swim up bar including a large enough spa to be able to get a seat. Sometimes when going on holiday you can't get into the spa because it's too small but this one was OK sized.

The lawn is synthetic, not my cup of tea as I prefer buffalo grass but being a resort with a pool I can see how opting for synthetic would help ensuring the pool is kept clean, including the inside of the venue.

There is a restaurant and a bar called stingray as well as a Cafe on site which makes it great for the days you want to sleep in. Room service is also available and there is a gift shop also located which sells sunscreen and other items that you will most likely forget when you leave home.

The rooms are a little more modern still incorporating some 60s colours and themes (flares) they go down the path of being more modern with neutral colours and the view is really good due to the location of the resort.

You'll have a great view of the ocean right outside your window and of the hustle and bustle of the street below. Public transport is right outside your front door also which means ease of access to all other areas on the Gold Coast and a cheaper alternative to get to theme parks.

We had a really great time at QT, staff a friendly and bubbly and we have stayed here twice so far. We would happily return once travel restrictions have lifted.
