In early September, the Vive Latino festival took place in Zaragoza (in Spain, not the Zaragoza of Mexico, although it seemed that way because of the theme), which filled the city with vibrant music, art and many visitors, making us feel almost the same as before the pandemic situation.
On the occasion of this great festival and to fill our streets with color they decided to bring one of the most successful Mexican art exhibitions in the world: MexiCráneos. The sculptures were exhibited around the festival grounds while the concerts were taking place and after that they decided to change their location so that the city could enjoy them during the whole month.
I had pending to go there to appreciate calmly and in detail this exhibition because I did not have the opportunity to attend the concerts and see them there, but while I decided to go debating which would be the best time without having to get up too early, because at first there was a lot of people to see them and of course, I wanted to take pictures; came the date of a trip I had planned and I postponed it for when I was back.
The surprise was that this past Friday, when I was already back, they suddenly started to take away the pieces of art exhibited in the street to take them away, with which everyone was surprised because they were supposed to be on display until the end of the month. In the end it was found out that it had been a confusion of the company in charge of the transport and they left them exposed again.
So thinking that so much waiting would make me miss the opportunity, I decided to go today even if it was around 18:00 hours the only time I could approach, not very interesting because it is usually very crowded in the historic center of the city, near where the sculptures are located.
A principios de Septiembre tuvo lugar en Zaragoza (en España, no la Zaragoza de México, aunque eso pareciera por la temática) el festival Vive Latino, este llenó a la ciudad de vida con su música, arte y muchos visitantes, haciéndonos sentir casi iguales que antes de la situación pandémica.
Con motivo de esta gran fiesta y para llenar nuestras calles de color decidieron traer una de las más exitosas exposiciones de arte mexicano en el mundo: MexiCráneos. Las esculturas estuvieron expuestas en los alrededores del recinto del festival mientras los conciertos tenían lugar y luego de eso decidieron cambiarles de ubicación para que la ciudad disfrutara de ellas durante todo el mes.
Yo tenía pendiente pasarme por ahí para poder apreciar con calma y detalle esta exposición porque no tuve la oportunidad de asistir a los conciertos y verlas allí, pero mientras me decidía a ir debatiendo cual sería el mejor momento sin tener que madrugar demasiado, pues al principio hubo mucha afluencia de gente para verlas y claro, yo quería hacer fotos; llegó la fecha de un viaje que tenía planeado y lo pospuse para cuando estuviera de regreso.
La sorpresa fue que este viernes pasado, estando ya de regreso, repentinamente comenzaron a enbalar las piezas de arte expuestas en la calle para llevárselas, con lo que todo el mundo quedó sorprendido pues se supone que estarían expuestas hasta finalizar el mes. Al final se supo que había sido una confusión de la compañía encargada del transporte y las dejaron expuestas nuevamente.
Así que pensando que tanto esperar haría que perdiera la oportunidad, tomé la decisión de ir hoy aunque fuese alrededor de las 18:00 horas el único momento en que pudiera acercarme, poco interesante pues suele estar muy concurrido el casco histórico de la ciudad, cerca de donde están localizadas las esculturas.
In an attempt to fill myself with patience, or rather calories, I first stopped by a place that never disappoints me and that could guarantee me a sufficient dose of happiness to be able to find a way to photographically record the exhibition in the best possible way.
At Café Justicia I ordered an American filter coffee to go and a, very delicious, redvelvet cookie with filling. A perfect combination to get me used to the idea that the world can be a good place from time to time.
It would be impossible not to share the photos of this snack, things like this have to be in the log of any foodie.
Para intentar llenarme de paciencia, o calorías más bien, me pasé primero por un lugar que nunca me decepciona y que podría garantizarme una dosis suficiente de felicidad para poder encontrar la manera de registrar fotográficamente la exposición de la mejor forma posible.
En Café Justicia me pedí un café americano de filtro para llevar y una, muy deliciosa, galleta de redvelvet con relleno. Una combinación perfecta para ir haciéndome a la idea de que el mundo puede ser un buen lugar de vez en cuando.
Sería imposible no compartir las fotos de esta merienda, cosas así tienen que constar en la bitácora de cualquier foodie.
The relocation of the gigantic Mexican skulls, decorated with different perceptions of Mexican folklore by artists from the same country, was along the entire Paseo Independencia of the city of Zaragoza, a large avenue with a lot of commercial and recreational activity, perfect so that no one was left without being able to enjoy it and making it impossible not to know that they were in the city.
The exhibition consisted of 19 huge sculptures, taller than the average person, which were divided on both sides of the entire Paseo Independencia. Each piece was properly identified with the name of the work, the author and an explanation about the design and the author's intention. They also have a QR code that allows you to access a web link where you can watch an interview with the author of each sculpture.
They turn out to be quite impressive, I had never seen them although they have already toured other cities in Spain, so it seemed relevant to document the detail of each of them, so for my personal enjoyment and historical record of events in the city I decided to take pictures of several profiles to each work which I begin to show below.
La reubicación de los gigantescos cráneos mexicanos, decorados con distintas percepciones del folclore mexicano por artistas del mismo país, fue a lo largo de todo el Paseo Independencia de la ciudad de Zaragoza, una gran avenida con mucha actividad comercial y recreativa, perfecto para que nadie se quedara sin poder disfrutar de ello y haciéndo imposible no enterarse que estaban en la ciudad.
La exposición consta de 19 esculturas enormes, más altas quedan persona promedio que estaban divididas en ambos lados de todo el Paseo Independencia. Cada pieza estaba debidamente identificada con el nombre de la obra, el autor y una explicación sobre el diseño y la intención del autor. También cuentan con un código QR que te permite acceder a un enlace web en donde puedes ver una entrevista con el autor de cada escultura.
Resultan ser bastante impresionantes, yo nunca las había visto aunque ya han girando por otras ciudades de España, por lo que me pareció relevante documentar el detalle de cada una de ellas, así que para mí disfrute personal y registro histórico de eventos en la ciudad me propuse a hacer fotos de varios perfiles a cada obra las cuales comienzo a mostrar a continuación.
Shortly after going through half of the exhibition you come across a sculpture a little different from the others, this one is designed mainly to attract the visitor's attention and record the moment of the visit by taking a picture with a couple of rather striking characters.
It is not easy to get a picture without someone around, children and many adults also queue to take a picture with the gloomy couple, I helped a couple to take pictures in exchange for allowing me a few minutes to photograph the structure although I did not want to take a picture myself, I was not comfortable under so much pressure.
However, I could appreciate for a while how well finished the figures were and how nice they were after stopping to look at the expression in their gestures hahaha you can't call anyone weird when the theme is death.
Poco después de recorrer la mitad de la exposición te encuentras con una escultura un poco diferente a las demás, esta está concebida principalmente para atraer la atención del visitante y registrar el momento de la visita haciéndose foto con un par de personajes bastante llamativos.
No sue fácil obtener una imagen sin que hubiese alguien al rededor, los niños y muchos adultos también hacen cola para hacerse una foto con la tétrica pareja, yo ayudé a una pareja a hacerse fotos a cambio de que me permitieran unos minutos para fotografiar la estructura aunque no quise tomarme yo una foto, no estaba gusto bajo tanta presión.
Sin embargo pude apreciar durante un rato los buenos acabados de las figuras y lo simpáticas que resultaban luego de detenerse a mirar la expresión en sus gestos jajaja no se puede tildar de raro a nadie cuando el tema es la muerte.
A little further on I found the figure that at the end of the tour I chose as my favorite, a rather classic and conservative design compared to the other colorful, eccentric and novel designs.
I surprised myself by feeling more attracted to this decoration rather than others, there are several decorated with geometric motifs that are usually things that attract me much attention and other damned magnificent or elegant contestes, but although I find them all beautiful something made me catch this one.
It is probably a matter of memory or nostalgia because it reminds me of the countryside, the jungle and the villages, something from my childhood. Also the color palette is very nice, soft and warm colors.
I think they all have something worth appreciating, they are all exuberant in different ways but perfectly balanced, great each of the artists involved in this exhibition.
Un poco más adelante me encontré con la figura que al finalizar el recorrido eligiera como favorita, de un diseño mas bien clásico y conservador en comparación a los otros coloridos, excéntricos y novedosos diseños.
Me sorprendí a mi misma al sentirme más atraída por esa decoración en vez de otras, hay varias decoradas con motivos geométricos que suelen ser cosas que me llaman mucho la atención y otras condenables magnificos o contestes elegantes, pero aunque me parezcan todas preciosas algo hizo que está me atrapara.
Seguramente es una cuestión de memoria o nostalgia pues me recuerda al campo, la selva y los pueblos, cosa de la infancia. También la paleta de colores es muy bonita, colores suaves y cálidos.
De igual forma creo que todas tienen algo digno de apreciar, son todas exuberantes en distintas formas pero perfectamente equilibradas, grandiosos cada uno de los artistas involucrados en esta muestra.
Mexico's largest traveling exhibition in Zaragoza has been a great success, I have enjoyed it very much and I will surely stroll among them again before they are gone for good.
It has made me think that we recognize this type of art as Mexican quickly and although we all know that their way of celebrating and understanding death is different from the regular mourning that most of us practice, there is much of that culture that I do not know and that I would very much like to witness.
I have the task of delving a little deeper into it, and it is of great help the purpose that the artists describe when they present each of these works, they have mentioned cults, sacred dogs, important figures and many more things that I have realized I know nothing about and for which I have become very curious.
Let's treasure these images in our BlockChain and if they come back to the city or I can see them in some other location it would be interesting to compare which sculptures remain in time and which change, because on the website I have seen that there are many more walking around the world.
La exposición itinerante más grande de México en Zaragoza ha sido todo un éxito, yo la he disfrutado mucho y seguramente vuelva a pasearme entre ellas antes de que se vayan definitivamente.
Me ha hecho pensar que nosotros reconocemos este tipo de arte como Mexicano rápidamente y aunque todos sabemos que su manera de celebrar y entender la muerte es distinta al duelo regular que la mayoría practicamos, hay mucho de esa cultura que yo desconozco y que me gustaría mucho presenciar.
Me queda de tarea adentrarme un poco más en ello, y es de gran ayuda el propósito que describen los artistas cuando presentan cada una de estas obras, han mencionado cultos, perros sagrados, figuras importantes y muchas cosas más de las que me he dado cuenta no sé nada y por las que me ha surgido bastante curiosidad.
Vamos a atesorar estas imágenes en nuestra BlockChain y si llegan a regresar a la ciudad o los puedo ver en alguna otra ubicación sería interesante comparar cuáles esculturas mantienen en el tiempo y cuales cambian, pues en la página web he visto que hay muchísimas más paseando por el mundo.

Súper, al principio cuando las vi me quedé un poco abrumada por no saber cuál ir a ver primero jajaja los colores, la forma y tamaño llaman mucho la atención.
Sobre todo lo bonito es que cada una es la expresión del artista sobre su cultura, a veces viajamos sin tener que movernos mucho. ¡Saludos!

O más bien que te visiten ellas a ti como ha sido en este caso jejeje es un proyecto itinerante, las esculturas viajan a distintas ciudades para promover la cultura mexicana durante un tiempo, aquí estuvieron todo un mes.

Síiiii @karelysk89 yo estaba ya culpándome por aplazar la visita, cuando vi las fotos de un hombre embalando todo en las redes del periódico de la ciudad me quedé en shock jajajaja
México debe ser una maravilla, ir en la fiesta de los muertos imagino que sería algo así a mega escala y en vez de galletica moderna seguro podría contar con un buen taco o algo totalmente desconocido jajaja soñar no cuesta nada, ya me estoy imaginando yo entre desfiles y velas.

I really like these ideas of coming up with something new, and when you bring that concept to the streets it's amazing and mysterious, because you don't know if people will like it or if it won't have the desired result.
But then you dare to tempt fate and wonderful things like this happen. I imagine that the idea you share was in the heads of the creators who worked on this proposal, I think the project is relatively new, I'm not sure if it will reach 5 years but certainly the final results are excellent.
This concept is a new one in our country and it is a young people's concept, so far the place is very visited by tourists, so it has the desired effect of its creators.

Es una exposición genial, y en directo cuando te das cuenta que el detalle de muchas no es solo pintura sino diferentes texturas te deja más encantado aún, ojalá la lleven cerca de ti o te las topes en alguno de tus maravillosos viajes, vale mucho la pena verlas.
